I dont think Wladimir really commited to his punches, he would concentrate on connecting more than on power because of Haye's movement.

Wlad is not a devastating hitter in any other era he would have been a journeyman.

 

I'm just wondering where all these skinny 220-230 pound Heavies were coming from...when many weigh close or more than 250.

Couldn't catch Young and lost a decision and retired the first time.
Young was not as fast in the upper body as Haye.
Young would like Quarry or Patterson been ATG in cruiser.

No chance that Wlad colud KO him. Haye didn't want to take any risks in the fight! He was always in front of Haye, it could be a real good fight if Haye was more aggressive.

 

Face it. The sport of boxing, especially the heavyweight division has declined so far that we fans have gone from watching great champions like Joe Louis fight 6-10 times per year and fighting the best opposition to today's "champions" who fight 1-2 times per year.

When Louis couldn't get consistent quality match-ups he began the "bum-of-the-month" matches earning a few thousands/fight.

Today, instead of bum of the month, we have "Bums For A Career" with only 1 bum per year at $3million/bum.
Much of today's stats/Wins/Losses is just BS smoke and mirrors.

 

Haye wasn't holding Wlad therefore stopping him from throwing punches, **** comparison.

I think Wlad's power is overrated tbh as is Haye's, both are big punchers though.

 

If Haye was actually confident that he will hold up to Wlad's power after tasting some of his more powerful shots, then Haye would have opened up more, yet he didn't which says to me that even haye thought his ability of taking wlad's shots was more fluke and due to the style that Haye was employing and wouldn't be there if he actually tried to make it a war.
