wlad, of course. when haye attacked, wlad would do his usual bs and step backwards. wlad doesnt initiate aggression, he avoids it.

I voted Wlad, I had money on him to win by KO and was hugely disappointed in his performance.

I expected him to be too big, too strong and too good for Haye, which he was, but he didn't let his hands go at all, he was far too tentative and could've hurt Haye had he stepped it up.

I picked Wlad. Wlad is twice the size of Haye, yet was flinching like he had Earnie Shavers infront of him.

Wlad had a man in front of him who had resorted to lunging in with wild, amateurish punches and leaving himself completely off balance and open - yet Wlad's only concern when Haye did this was making sure that he was back and well out of the way of trouble. He never once looked to capitalise of the effectiveness of his defence.

Steward was clearly telling him that when he steps back as Haye lunges in that he should do so with a hook. He never tried to do this.

I think the problem is that Wlad is very much a two mode fighter - defence and attack. There is no fluidity or link between the two. His offence is to push forward and pin his opponent down behind the jab, then when that is landing he'll pop the right hand and take a half step back out of trouble. Then, when his oppoent lunges in he simply takes a step back and makes sure he is out of danger without looking to capitalise on his opponents mistake. Then he resets and starts his offence. There is no link between the two.

I've said this for a long time, Wlad doesn't counterpunch...If he did, he would be far more effective and he's already effective...

No - Haye let Wlad hit him with the jab because he expected to lure him in for the KO shot - didn't you hear? That was the only way he could compensate for that horrific toe injury

You just pointed out the difference between Wladimir and his brother, Vitali. Vitali loves to get a guy out of position. He invites the guy in by keeping his hands low and punishes when that guy over commits trying to tag him. It's kind of like how Haye was fighting, minus the size handicaps. Haye was smart enough not to stand there and eat jabs flush all night. He moved his head and upper body very well defensively. As the guy who was giving up 30lbs and 4 or 5 inches in height, he had to. I thought Wlad had the temperament and the accuracy to stop him at some point anyway. I thought wrong.
