Wlad easily by miles. Bowe is more comparable to vitali. No real legacy to speak of but a perceived h2h nightmare for anyone.
Bowe. One can wonder how would Wlad have fared against prime Herbie Hide and Holyfield . Surprisingly , I believe Hide had the better chances against him than Holyfield . Of Course Wlad could have stopped Hide as well , but being both shorter and chinnier than his brother and at least chinnier than Bowe (I also think Bowe had a milimeter or 2 over Wlad rather than viceversa ) , Hide had a better chance against Wlad than he had vs Vitali or Bowe.
Wlad wins on legacy because Bowe's prime and reign were so short in comparison. Head-to-head, though, the Bowe from Holyfield I beats any version of Wlad. But there is no doubt (at least in my mind) that Wladimir is deservedly ranked higher than Bowe in an all time great list type of sense.
Bowe. Until Wlad beats someone who is close to the fighter that a prime Holyfield was, then Bowe has my vote. And Bowe didn't lose to 3 journeyman either.
Wlad. As much as I scoff at his style and his disposition in battle, his scores with dominance and longevity would put him over Riddick. While Wlad is the King Cactus in a desert, Bowe often resembled the "Chicken Bowe" that Lennox tagged him with -and that's worse.
Wlad by a clear margin. Just because of consistency and dominance. Bowe is more comparable with Vitali. They both beat several contenders. Bowe beat Holyfield. But Vitali has made an epic comeback and is very dominant in his performances. Personally, I rank Vitali a bit higher.
It's only fair to rank Wlad higher. Bias and favoritism aside Head to head I definitely think Bowe would stop Wlad. I havent seen Wlad in a real firefight, and maybe that has to do with Wlad being so good
Yeah, Bowe beat Holyfield and that is clearly better than any win on Wlad's resume. At the same time, successful title defenses and longevity strongly favor Wladimir, so picking Bowe exclusively on the Holyfield win is pretty biased in my eyes.
