Floyd is very averse to risk and uses defensive mastery/reactive excellence to avoid getting hit with scoring shots rather than having an outstanding punch output or punching volume of his own. While being technically superb and strategically super-intelligent, Mayweather's boxing is an extension of the amateur boxing philosophy and fails to follow the logical rule in this ( and all) professional business which is to fight for the public's money - his PPV numbers in the last coupla fights are as much an indication of his loyal fanbase as of the many people who expect his perfect record to go. There are many indications that the Mayweather system is not as much crowd pleasing as effective and that goes beyond Mayweather to Malignaggi, Ibragimov, Spinks and many other top prize fighters.

out of both styles gatti's is more exciting and i guess its more gutsy , im a die hard fan of gatti's so my opinion is biased , but floyd has great skills , his hand speed alone is great , i wouldn't say floyd wins ugly like ruiz has before , but he's smart and he fights where he takes the least damage , when he has a guy hurt he will finish them off , but it would be stupid for him to want to try and trade like gatti used to , especially when he really doesn't have to in order to win

 

Mayweather is a runner. So is Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins. It's because they are selfish and don't care about the fans; they only care about cashing their inflated paychecks and then going on tv to tell the world how they are "living legends" and **** like that. The media plays along because they themselves have a vested interest in promoting these bums, and because they figure the fans are too dum to discover the fraud. They are wrong; think how the fans turned against the fake HBO product Jermaine Taylor. You can be a great boxer but still take risks and be entertaining. Think Joe Calzaghe.

Floyd is in it to win. When you're in a boxing match to win it it's a good idea not to let a slower fighter that punches hard stand there and hit you.
That's a good way to lose.
A good way to avoid losing is to hit him instead, and then make it difficult for him to hit you back.
That's pretty much the only reason Floyd Mayweather fans will sometimes treat others on this board like they don't know anything.
It doesn't matter how entertaining you are, or how much so called heart you show.
When the fight is over the only thing that matters is who won.
Floyd Mayweather has won every time.

There is no sport in the world where a person who is more skilled will give the other guy his only chance to win by doing what he wants him to do.
THe only chance in hell Baldomir would have ever had to be Floyd Mayweather would have been if he stood there and trade dwith him like a couple of cowboys in John Wayne movie.

 

Hardly. He took a risk by fighting Kessler in the first place and then took risks in the end of the fight to mix it up and provide entertainment. Any of the fakes mentioned in my previous post would have ran the last 3 or 4 rounds in a similar fight. But the truth is none of those guys would have faced such a threat in the first place. They would have ran around pot shotting a handpicked tomato can all night then talked **** about how tough and "bad" they are. Mary Hopkins is deathly scared of Joe C. If you fall for it thats on you, but it's media-hyped frauds like Mayweather and company that are sinking boxing.

 

That's because the so called fans don't care about them.
THe same so called fans that would want them to stand there and be hit in the head rather than box so they can be entertaines are the same so called fans who will make jokes when they end up damaged from too many shots to the head, and finally retire broke because they didn't care about their inflated paychecks.
THen to top it all off when they have to fight after being damaged and shot, and they are beaten. It will be those same so called fans that will say he was exposed and he was always a joke, and the newcomer so and so is way better, and would have knocked him out in 4 in his prime.
That's why the so called fans that don't want to see you box are not important.
Boxing is a sport. But it has always been a business. Other people outside of the ring has always made the money.
THe only difference now seems to be that the so called fans don't want the fighters to make the money.
