And the way he fought against Ranzany and others in his career leading up to the Duran fight.

But don't waste your time engaging MAG on any subject that has even a passing resemblance to Duran, because even though I don't think he is a bad poster or anything, his performance on my Top 50 Wins of the 1980s thread screamed out bias and irrationality, he couldn't and wouldn't respond to direct points and questions on the careers of Duran and Hearns, then finally just disappeared.

The guy has no case and no justifications, just petty dislike that he cannot back up.

On other subjects, he's a perfectly good poster though, so best to leave this issue alone, there's no mileage in it because he'll get emphatically proven wrong but then the next day just keep churning out the same old ill-informed dog**** anyway.

it is just a different opinion. In a way my opinions probably make all your opinions on Duran stronger, not weaker. Discussion and different opinions never hurt anything. Thing is, when I say my usual comments about Duran people jump immediately like I am saying something totally irrational.

I am trying to be objective. Even on Hearns I can say his weakness was a propensity for brawling when he did not have the greatest chin, and leaving himself open when he got tired and not sticking to a game plan. All fighters have weaknesses. There are other posters who view Duran the same way I do as far as Duran's weakness to speedy fighters. Nowadays Duran would have demolished most guys at 147 and 154, and even done well at 160. I never said he was not great, I just said he was not as invincible as others see him. He moved up to 147 and fought up to 160 at a very tough time and he did fight the best, no doubt in that. I give Duran fans credit, they sure love him and bring up good arguments for him, and I respect all of you for that.

 GOtta love Duran one of the very few who is lovable when talking ****.... But you know i should have rephrased that cuz it aint talking **** when its the truth and he was spot on (xcept beating him now:patsch:roll::lol:) Hed be to slick, hit at least as hard, more proven and better chin, and up until No mas his speed was almost or on par with Pacs, really not much difference in that depat (despite what some will tell you). And thats at WW.... OVer 12 Duran close but convincing decision or possible ko 12 ...Over 15 Durans definitely kos him late..... Pac has awesome stamina but hell get hit more and harder over the long haul than hes ever been.

At LW he ****s up Pac and knocks him out..At least it would be a very competetive and close fight for a while at ww.... AT lw its still a great fight an close early, but by the mid rounds Pac would be beat up and get outclassed for however long it lasted after that.

Duran by brutal Knock out Ko 9

Ok ill open the file for one short statement..

The JM version that fought Benitez,HEarns was ohhhhhhhhhh so much slower thatn the Montreal version, especially afoot he couldnt walk and chase you down like before .. ITs painfully obvious by watching Duran from JM was a slower version.

But you know what even the slower JM Duran beats Pac.. Like the other poster said Pac wasnt a mover.. Hes capable of it but he could help himself Duran would make Pac fight his fight at JM and kick his there too....

Mag is doing that thing again. He is actually ignoring the first 13 years of someone's boxing career. No joke.

Duran has always worn his emotions on his sleeve..And just talks off the top of head... THats what No Mas was about.. He didnt think of the repurucussions or look at as quitting.. At the moment he really believed Leonard was being a ****ing clown and said **** this dude he dont want to fight(in Durans way of thinking).

In his own way i really believe Duran thinks hed beat Pac right now... BUt im sure if he got in the gym and really thought about it hed realize he was talking **** and jumped the gun:lol:

I give Pacquiao virtually no chance against a guy as skilled as Roberto Duran. No way could he handle Duran at any weight.

I wouldn't put it past Manny to try and make the fight happen sometime in 2012 though, it'd be about as exciting as the rest of his fights :rofl:happy:bbb

yes i think at LW for sure....And at WW hes on close.. Leonard was bigger and faster than Pac ,and he was right there to match him and not bothered by his speed.

YOu have to quit watching..His post No Mas fights and watch prime Duran or the WW version who whupped Palomino and beat Leonard.

Duran never fought guys the level of Hearns,Hagler,Benitez and Leonard in his first 13 years no matter what. Who were they? The best guy he fought Dejesus was not near that class of fighter.

Is that the same He Grant who says Marciano is too small to compete with more modern HWs? Some people genuinely must think steroids is like the stuff that helps make superheros in the comic books. Anyway, I have Duran taking Holmes. Holmes is too open to the right hand.

If they fought in their primes duran takes him to school and then tko's him in around the 12th round. As far as roberto saying that Hatton coudn't beat him now its just his machoistic pride talking.

He may be 60 years old but some things never change about a fighter mentally, even if he no longer has the physical ability.
