Good name for it. Only guys i can understand who wear them are fighters with history of nose breaks or problems or big **** off Pinocchio noses.
manny steward also hates them i dont see a problem though, protects the nose from breaking and better for preventing cuts. its just almost impossible to see through them.
I can imagine under certain circumstances they are necessary, it can be good for a fighter to break or damage his nose in training camp. Maybe thats why Khan wears it fair enough I still would think its better to spar without it though. It would be good to get used to being hit in the face in training camp though, get yourself used to the pain and toughen your face up at the same time.
believe me you can still feel punches even with the bar in front. anyway most boxers at that level are well past that whole needing to get used to getting hit' they've been doing it for most of their lives.
Ive been sparring numerous times before, but never with the nose protector, so i cant argue with you. I agree, but a certain amount of pre-fight conditioning is neccessary during training camp. Its unlikely that a boxers face will be as tough when he first enters camp after a long rest period as when hes finished it. for example you always see George Groves faced bashed up during training camp, and id say its good for him in the long run. I remember David Haye also said before that its good for boxer's to get the odd cut and bruise during training camp, as it conditions a boxer for the fight.
