I think as his career continues his skin might be more of a problem then even his chin. When people get older their skin gets dryer and thinner and more prone to cuts. Wladimir had two cuts and he was hardley hit vs Haye. Plus when I look at Wladmirs Skinn when he smiles it looks a lot more crinkley and dry. I think Wlad could lose some fights on cuts as his career contiunes. He will really have to cover his weakness of chin and skin as he continues fighting. He could be knocked out with a big punch or cut up by jabs and less powerful punches.
No, I'm a huge Wladimir fan, but his biggest weakness is leaning back like his brother with his head in a straight line. If he faces a southpaw who is ready to step in and deliever full throttle without thinking about the consequences, Wladimir will likely end up in another gun slinging type battle. Or if he faces someone with enough timing and explosiveness to step in and land a beautiful one-bomb on him, I see it happening. If Boytsov can keep healthy and get on some sort of run, I think he's going to be an excellent challenge for Wladimir.
He's pretty quick and good on his feet which I think helps him get away with it. Plus maybe being long helps with leaning back a little also. I am not sure if that is his biggest weakness but maybe it is his biggest technical weakness . Will be interesting to see if he is good enough to keep getting away with that.
Wladimir's skin won't be a factor regardless if he continues to fight opposition that isn't willing to come after him which constitutes almost all of the current Heavyweight division. His biggest weakness is still his chin, but luckily for him nobody has the guts and tools to test it by coming after him.
Well nothing like a bit of facial moisturizer to fix that little problem. He might want to consider exfoliating once in a while after heavy training as sweat may exuberate the dead flaky skin process.
Yes, Wlad and his brother are more prone to cuts than most boxers. I never beleived he had has a weak chin though. On the other hand, Wlad has developed an excellent defensive technique. He rarely gets hit flush on the chin. Yes he was cut here and there during Haye match, so what? MUCH BETTER THAN LOSING A WIDE UD AND THE BELT. Do you know what I mean? Big Red: "He could be knocked out with a big punch or cut up by jabs and less powerful punches." This is wishful thinking. He was never KOed or stopped due to cuts in 56 professional bouts. Statistics contradict your assumptions.
I think his chin is better then some people think. And he has not been stopped on cuts, I think now that he is getting older it could be a problem for him though. He seemed to cut easy in the Haye fight not that it mattered but it could in the future, could cause a stoppage. Maybe not though he does not get hit very much. Even if his skin gets more dry, brittle and thin he may be able to cover the weakness well enough.
im guessing any hw boxer with low fat percentage (which isnt many even in the good old days)would have problem with think skin..i dont how ever seein it being aqn issue as both of them hardly get hit..wlads chin wasnt an issue.it was his balance and mental tufness which both have been fixed...obviously he has vunrabilitys every boxer does
Nothing to hate about Wlad. I don't watch him much, every time i do, i am more impressed each time. I don't think any heavyweight now can beat the Klitchkos.Too damn tall, strong no one can beat them right now.He moves well for tall guy He is not a lumbering heavyweight with titties.
After watching that fight, Wladimir is very fast and very light on his feet, I agree his weakness is probably cuts and especially with his movement he is more likely to get cut as he simply is not getting hit flush by anyone. I have always thought if VK had fought Lewis again he would have been cut a second time. there were numerous cuts from Lewis's shots not just the lucky one we hear so much of. To me Wladimir is just to good at the moment and will be considered an all time great when he does hang up the gloves.
