What boxrec doesn't show you is that there was no better competition available during that time. Can you name 1 available top SMW Bute could've fought instead of his last 4 opponents?

Gah....Bute needs to prove himself more, and I just don't think Pavilik is live enough competition. Oh well.

If Bute actually forfeits homefield and takes a financial cut in the process, then massive cudus to him. The fact that it doesn't make sense is another matter.

Interbox knows about the critiques of Bute calling him the Ottke or Calzaghe of his generation, so they send out this message that so far can only be classified as promotional spin. I'd be willing to put money on that fight landing in Canada.

It's not always a good thing when you can draw 15 000+ !

Exactly. This is also a business, and it takes quite a bit to forfeit a truckload of cash. But of course at some point ones got to worry about legacy. Calzaghe did in the very late bit of his career. Ottke never did. Will Bute?

In a interview after yesterday fight he said that his next fight would be in the US! Now it's up to his team but they look willing to fight in AC or Vegas!

Who knows what the promoters might be up to, but I think both Kelly and Lucian deserve some props for letting people know that they would not haggle over the venue. Right from the beginning both have seemed almost anxious to step into the other man's back yard.

Im a big fan of Bute, but im calling this a strategic & financial cherrypick lol

This will be an EASY victory for Bute. He'll get to whomp an undersized & over the hill Kelly Pavlik in his own home country in order to boost his name in the US. Im not complaining about this, and i'll definitely watch it, but Pavlik as an opponent, is a definite cherrypick lol....

i think Bute's promoter has been looking for a good door that'll open them into the US.... Pavlik is a KNOWN NAME to the casual fan. He safeguards a pretty big door....

Pavlik who demolished Fulwenico Zuniga would beat Bute. that Pavlik was unbeatable. ask Booradley if you dont believe.

as we speak K Pavlik is unknown quantity at 168. he might end up being competitive at the weight or he might end up as a gatekeeper at 168. his next fight will tell us more, i think....
