I dont think Moore though the fight but the book did taint the fight imo. It should be mention in suppose fix fights.
Nielson had a few guys take dives in matches with him, there was a big investigation into that as well where someone connected to Nielson was found guilty of fixing fights. Fighters picked up mysterious "injuries" in their matches with Nielson. Tubbs was beating Nielson and then retired with an "injury" out of nowhere in between rounds. I've heard the Hunter and Williams fights may of also been flop jobs, among others.
I used to think that Morrison-Bentt was fixed because it just didn't make any sense considering how much was on the line. But then I rewatched it and it's just a horrible, horrible loss.
The Mob played a huge role in boxing for decades. Even legends like Sugar Ray Robinson were leaned on from time to time. Angelo Dundee was suspended for 12 months at one stage for consorting with a high profile mob identity.
Bentt was a decent fighter, no real achievements as a pro but he had been an amazing amateur. Morrison was a decent fighter too, but a hype job with no punch resistance. Definitely no reason to believe it was fixed. Morrison just never could take a punch. Morrison v Foreman looks more like the fix. Actually I think Bentt himself said Morrison-Foreman looked fixed to him !
I think Witherspoon's exit from the Nielsen fight is suspect too : [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdHydi9NpOI[/ame]
Foreman had some "Iffy" fights on the USA network in the late 1980s and early 1990s...... I think Bobby Hitz (KO'd by Jabs) and Terry Armstrong (KO'd by a Right) from Foreman were tank jobs..... Not that neither Hitz or Armstrong deserved those fights / checks anyway.... 'Tis my opinion.... MR.BILL OH! Foreman's KO over Ladislao Mijangos in 1988 sucked balls, too....
Yeah, I think this guy flopped in a similar way too : [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbQix2KLx6Q&feature=related[/ame]
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYNwVSJfVhQ&feature=player_detailpage[/ame] Paul Briggs showed time and again what a warrior he was but this whole thing stank. Either he was a) Damaged goods (and apparently he is) b) Taking a dive or c) Desperate for a payday knowing he was damaged goods and took a dive to get out of there before he got hurt further. Anyway you look at it a once proud fighter ( just watch his fights with Adamek) humiliated himself here. Very sad to see.:-(
But the day after he changed his tune and tried to say the KO was legit. If he didn't say something like that he probably would've had a riot on his hands,so he was correct in saying he had smart people behind him. What a farce and stupid me ****ing paid to watch it.
Yeah, I guess he didn't want to cause a stink, he got paid. We all know there was nothing legit about that. Ouch.
