I enjoy watching boxing but I'm no sadist. Mismatches, prolonged unnecessary beatings and the like don't as a rule do much for me. But on occasion a certain fighter (or even their camp's) behaviour is so obnoxious and annoying I can't help but take a perverse pleasure in seeing them receive a severe comeuppance at the hands of another fighter. For example seeing the way Aaron Pryor carried on in the ring before his fight with Bobby Joe Young had me chearing at seeing him getting stopped and losing his undefeated record to a guy who to be fair wasn't in his class. http://youtu.be/WUgiYcHaE2Y (@3.35) Likewise Zab Judah's trash talk prior to the Tszyu fight gave me great joy in seeing his career and reputation severely dented when they met. What are your examples of a fighter earning themself a well deserved beating?
I'll admit to a certain satisfaction in seeing Khan flattened versus Prescott. Not so much his fault, more the way he was bummed/silver-spooned by the wider media. I enjoyed seeing Tyson thrashed by Holyfield - I wanted Holyfield to win and picked him at the last minute (backed with cash) so that was satisfying on a lot of different levels. I agree that seeing Judah flattened against Kostya as a shout though - that was infinitely satisfying, although it was a really weird night overall - remember the ring entrances?
Even if I dislike a fighter the humbling of a public knock out usually makes me sympathetic to them. I'm not as judgemental and hateful of fighters as some, we all have our good and bad points as people. Although agree with McGrain I enjoyed Prescott-Khan
Wilfredo Gomez against Sal Sanchez. Yori Boy Campus over Tony Ayala Hide and those pre-fight antics of his against Vitali Nigel Benn getting silenced in both of those Collins fights Tszyu over Chavez Nelson over Fenech 2. People forget just how much Fenech was being considered going into that bout.
Generally I'm the same. I quite like most fighters but even the ones I dislike I don't wish a knockout upon but occasionally the odd one just infuriates me to the point where their humiliation is the only thing that brings satisfaction. That being said what's the story with Amir Khan? Not being British I don't understand the antagonism some posters feel towards him as everything I've seen of him makes him seem like a decent kid to me.
Khan vs Prescott gave me an endorphin boost for about 2 weeks. When it happened me and my brother rolled around his living room floor roaring with laughter. I roared when pirog laid Jacobs out aswel. And i was in hysterics when pacquiao decimated hatton mainly because his notoriously clueless fans thought he was gunna win
A combination of things, undeserved praise, arrogance, idiotic comments, knocking some old guy down on a pedestrian crossing. He's a good kid in some ways but annoying. I predicted he'd comeback to be P4P top10 after the and everyone, but I still half hope Judah clocks him, I sort of like him but can't help but route against him half the time I doubt you're alone in that
I'd say the majority of the boxing world is secretly hoping for Hattonization pt. II...... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJrA4bJGp58[/ame] Believe
Thought Barerra - Hamed would of been picked. Hamed trash talked and kept his opponants waiting in the ring, clowned during the fight and was decisively beaten. Mythical status destroyed
