No way in hell does Marquez or Soto beat Rios...

Ever seen Manny fight? I'm guessing not if you think Rios has anything like Pacquiao's power.

 

I personally feel that the current Brandon Rios is better equipped to defeat the likes of JMM than Juan Diaz ever was, a fighter who performed very well against JMM in the past. Not an outrageous fight at this juncture.

I see no basis for favoring Soto in a fight with Rios. Perhaps someone can educate me on this?

 

marquez would give rios a masterclass in boxing. rios camp better not make this fight yet. it will be like hopkins-pascal or hopkins- pavlik. marquez got too much tricks and his precision punching and counter punching and the way he puts those punches together is way too much for rios at this stage of his early career.

 

Why does a younger version of JMM fail to give Juan Diaz a masterclass in Boxing if he would put on such a show against a bigger hit with a tougher resolve? I'm not sure, doesn't make much sense to me. I'm not commiting myself to a Brandon Rios victory, but win or lose, JMM will have known he was in a fight. No masterclass.

 

honestly i think jmm wanted to put on a good fight because he knows juan diaz's punching power is limited. and perhaps appearing more hittable in the diaz fight landed him a nice payday against mayweather. with rios, marquez would be on his p's and q's and would not try and get into a gunfight with rios, and utilize every ring generalship, and ring iq he has.

 

Yeah, Marquez allowed himself to get hit against Juan Diaz. That would really raise his stock. Yawn. Next excuse?

 

it's not allowing yourself to get hit, i'm just saying he's able to be a little more riskier and take chances. and you don't think knowing mayweather he'd like to take fights against people who show a little vulnerbitlity. i know if i was fighting paulie malangi i wouldn't mind giving the fans little action and trade as opposed to if i'm fighting pac or some other hard puncher where i think i could get hurt.

 

Pure skill, he might just stick and move for 12 rds. Rios is starting to give me Pacquiao flashbacks, a fighter I hated for a long time just because his fans were acting like tards.

Rios hasn't proven **** yet. He's had some impressive showings against somewhat decent fighters and got buzzed a few times along the way. JMM would have handled anyone Rios has fought without being troubled at ALL. Rios has shown that he could bring a little drama to a current JMM, but I haven't seen anything that makes me think he would win. Far more likely that Rios opens up and JMM lands 5 and 6 combinations on him for every shot he takes, stopping him in the mid or late rounds.

As far as matching the best Rios we've seen so far up against prime JMM, you'd have to be out of your mind to think that's a competitive fight. The versions of Manny that an older JMM fought would put a savage ****ing beatdown on Rios.

 

No excuse needed. Juan Diaz was a quality fighter with wins over Freitas, Sim, Contreras, Katsidis... Rios still hasn't reached the level Juan was at when he fought JMM. I don't think he beats Guerrero.

Rios is entertaining, he's not the next JC Superstar. I could understand this hysteria if he was looking like another Morales or MAB, but he's not. He's looking like a super tough guy who's going to be in a lot of wars, and he's more likely than not going to get outpointed by real technicians with patience and a chin.

 

Can you remind us all of your analysis and how you thought the Morales-Maidana fight would go???

If I remember correctly I believe you were one of the ones that laughed at my assesment that Morales would be competive if not win that fight.

 

You're right man, Rios has nothing on Manny...who hasn't had a KO since when, also research when the last time Rios went the distance with someone.

agreed, Rios is a fun fighter, but people are getting a litte carried away.

From what i've seen, He is not anywhere near the level of a Manny a Marquez or a Floyd. Or even a Cotto or a Hatton.
I put him on the level of a Juan Diaz or a Malignaggi. He'll win a couple of belts, but will get beat when he steps up.
