I prefer Emmanuel Steward over Freddie.

Roach achieved alot with Pacquiao and Toney but I give Steward the edge for being in the game so long from Hearns to Klitschko and remaining at the top throughout.

    What do y'all think?

Steward is only good with tall fighter LOL. The only thing Steward is good for is his knowledge as a commentator, he always know how the fight is going to go LOL...The fight went just the way how I thought it would LOL.

I don't know why, but Steward's fighters seem to have less longevity than other fighters. That being said, I feel it is because Steward's technical skills maybe on a 2nd tier compared to the likes of Roach, McGirt, and Reid. (Roach and McGirt were at the top in their professional careers) Roach was schooled by a boxing legend, Steward took the fame away from the trainers around him.

I think Steward should just train Heavyweights, that he can handle. That and I just don't like Steward's style. You don't need a mother yelling at you in your corner, while you're getting beat. You need your clan, your father, your brother. That is what Manny does not bring to the table. Roach and McGirt's corner talk is what every trainer should be.

P.S. I mean come on, you give Manny Gaby and you give Jesse Reid Orlando. Which brother was schooled better, and defended the bantamweight belt was it 18 times?

Anyone who voted Emanuel either doesn't know boxing or doesn't follow boxing coaches careers. Allow me to elaborate:

Manny Steward's greatest claim to fame were Hears, Lewis and Klitschko. All 3 are top notch dominant fighters, HOWEVER, an argument could be made that all 3 were established and had an amazing base by the time they got to Steward:
Now I am not gonna discuss Hearns, I will start with Lennox:

Lennox by that time has been in the Olympics, got his gold, and soundly beat many quality fighters. Steward came in when the vast majority of the work was done, but no credit is given to Lewis's other trainers.

Wladimir Klitschko: Got his Olympic gold, just like Lennox. Won 44 fights, had an exciting style, was officially heralded as the greatest white heavyweight and a replacement for Lennox. Steward jumped at an opportunity, because frankly, what could be easier than taking a well established, talented, dominant fighter with a wide variety of punches, height, sheer power, and turn him into a robotic 1-2 jab-right hand-occasional left hook clincher. Yes, it works. But what Steward did is simply dumb down Wladimir's boxing to an absolute working minimum.

Now, to further illustrate my point, lets think back to all the wonderful fighters that Steward raised from scratch. Meaning, just raw talent, no one else's base or influence. There was this....ummmm....and I think there was...ummmm....Oh yea, there was this one guy that Steward trained as a sole trainer, that he picked up as a kid. He called him the future best, and I believe after 16 fights against bums, Steward's protege got knocked out, only to be left and forgotten by the hall of fame trainer...

Steward has this one base plan on how a fighter should fight, and he tries to make everyone, regardless of their style, to fit into that plan. It works with naturally bigger, stronger fighters that have an advantage over their opponents. As soon as the playing field was leveled (Jermain Tailor), his famed plan comes down crumbling.

steward has trained homegrown fighters from amateurs to world champions...cant remember the number...but it was like 9 or 10...at one time...i dont think roach has had 1.
they both are great trainers...but stewards resume speaks for itself...

Or he simply wanted the naturally timid, relaxed Lennox to be more aggressive ;)

no lennox was wreckless as hell.

have you seen pepe correa's training methods? he would be a good fit with margarito its all about going forward and throwing punches and shouting in the corner.
