I say Lewis cause he's fought much more very big punchers and most of them he take punches well. Yes he was tko/ko twice but cameback and win easily in rematches. Lewis has fought and beaten Holyfield (past prime yes but not a decline fighter), Tyson (past his prime but not really a shot fighter until he fought Williams and then Mcbride), Prime Tua, Younger Grant, Younger Mercer who was 35 (Wlad fought Mercer when mercer was 41), Younger Briggs, Morrison, Golata, Rudduck, Bruno. And then Lewis fought a prime Vitali. Besides Mccall and Rahman who both tko/ko Lewis, Lewis has beaten 10+ big punches that never beat him and he's been on 6 or more exciting fights that he won. In which Lewis takes far more chances then Wlad. I defend Wlad and i don't hate the guy but his style is easily boring to watch. See atleast with Lewis, yea he can make boring fights but he can also makes exciting fights. Lewis can change his style from boxing to brawling. Wlad can't do that. Without trying to box with many many jabs, jabs, jabs, jabs and straight right hands and clinch so many times? Wlad would get ko in brawling by a big puncher mostly alot of times. This is why i'm a big fan of Vitali and not his little brother cause Atleast Vitali takes far more chances in which he has more of a warrior heart. So yea imo Lewis has the far better chin then Wlad and it's been proving many times. Btw that's why Haye rather fight Wlad then Vitali cause of it.
Lewis' chin while far from being good was obviously better than Wlads. Even Wlad knows this, hence why he is always so defensive. Lewis even after being KO'ed by McCall would occasionally look for a tear up like he did against Mercer, Grant, Golota, Briggs and Vitali.
Wladimir has been down 11 times because he got back up. Lewis has only been down twice because he couldn't get back up.....
That just means Wlad has better powers of recovery after being dropped and hurt, doesn't mean his ability to take the punch in the first place is any better.
Lewis by miles. Lewis demonstrated a vastly superior chin to Wlad, in his fights with Mason, Mercer, Briggs, Vitali...
i never thought lewis had a great chin. Bruno was one punch away from KO'ing him. Lewis seemed to have better balance than Wlad though. maybe that's why Wlad has been down so many more times. But Lewis was knocked out cold. Twice. Wlad hasnt been. Tough to say. The chin question is always a very subjective question at best. There is no real way to quantify how good a 'chin' really is. A lot of factors come into play, such as when in the fight, the mood of both fighters, momentum when hit for both, damage inflicted throughout the fight, etc.
