Good point. Holyfield is not overrated. You are under-informed about boxing (not unforgiven, but the guy who started the thread).
I dont get this part...:huh Ftw is theis **** ? Becoming the undisputed Heavyweight champ means nothing if you lose ? He was 34 against Tyson and many thought he was done. At one point he was a 6 to 1 underdog... The fact remains that he fought a **** ton of great opposition, beat the odds countless times and showed more heart then your ass could ever dream of. ****en haters. Btw Holyfield ruines Bowe.(or was the last nail in the coffin).
Not a fan of Holyfield to be honest, I wouldn't say he was overrated. The Evan Fields thing does put a question mark over a lot of the things he's done though.
in the 90s he was called a overachiever, funny how opinions change he lost 10 times. waaay too beateble
:nut 1. Bowe in his prime was very good. Their 3rd fight Holy had heart issues. It clearly showed as he uncharacteristically ran out of gas midway through the fight. 5. That was not Holy's fault. Corrupt judges. I don't understand why a fighter gets grief when he gets a gift decision. It was the judges. Holy quickly gave LL a rematch. You'd have a slight point bringing this up if Holy decided to retire or never gave LL a rematch but that's not the case. 8. Styles make fights. Bert Cooper fought the best fight of his entire life that night. Bert brought is A+ game. Holy still pulled it out so I don't see why you point this out. No matter who you are there's a style that will give you fits. one of those for holy is a guy who smothers you on the inside which also explains #7 why he lost to Huggy bear. Wlad lost to a journeyman named purrity is he overrated? 9. ? what does his interviews have to do with him as a fighter.
No kidding. Holyfield is a top ten HW ATG and the best cruiser of all-time. He's criminally underrated by some boxing fans - mostly by those who tend to overrate Lewis, of which there are unfortunately quite a few.
The man unified two divisions. During the 80's and 90's he beat everyone he faced not called lennox lewis. That includes the best fighters in two divisions and a string of impressive post prime performances that saw him as the best heavyweight in the world in 99, 13 years after winning his first title. After losing a close fight to lewis he managed to defeat rahman and ruiz, two of the top heavyweights of the naughties. And in an even further state of shotness he managed to school valuev a top 5 heavyweight, over 20 years after his first title, and a long long time after losing the rubber to bowe. The man is quite literally a living legend and most certainly a top 15 heavyweight. When he retires he'll sit at number 10 on my list providing wlad doesn't overtake him.
