Exactly. A big wembley rip off. Dela Hoya vs Hatton...for NO titles...probabaly at a catchweight...in a totally irrelevant and utterly pointless exhibition for the clueless morons who could actually be fooled into thinking that was a 'big fight'. A waste of time fight designed solely to line Wicky and Oscars pockets full of back slapping and handshaking Wicky was devastated when Pacquaio pissed on the script.
Gaz, it wasn't really a 'shame it didn't happen'. You make it sound like an unfortunate occurrence. It was simply ducking. Pretty cleverly constructed as well, making Witter look the bad guy for wanting the best domestic fight.
I'm flattered you saw me online and dragged this thread off page 2 or 3 so you could get some attention off me but I am starting to think your little "thing" about me maybe getting a bit weird.....
It happens in boxing mate. Its not as if I'm inconsistent on this issue, I didn't get my knickers in a twist when Haye didn't fight Wlad, when Khan didn't fight Murray, when Mayweather didn't fight Pac......etc, etc, etc. Seen it before and I'll see it again. And BTW I didn't make any attempt to make Witter look the bad guy, I just gave my opinion on how I looked at the fight. I suggest you re-read the post. Unlike some others, I try not to use a posting style that just attempts to drag the "other guy" down to support an argument.
Perhaps you need to re-read my post as it appears I read yours perfectly well but you didn't mine. I actually said Hatton made Witter out to be the bad guy, that was my point. Which he did. All that nonsense about what Witter said on stage that 'upset him', how he didn't want to give him a payday because he's a nasty piece of work...it really was sad. All that should have fueled a great fight but instead it was used to duck him.
I did read yours properly, you need to be clearer. You've quoted me and then gone straight into the comment on making Witter the bad guy, no mention of Hatton.
Because I've quoted you that means I must be referring to you when I'm taking about Witter/Hatton? Jeez, thats self-importance for ya !
Like I say. We've done this to death in the past and its not as if I'm at all inconsistent on this issue just because its Hatton-Witter. Is there really any point in rehashing it for 347th time? Is anyone going to say anything new? Is anyone going to change their minds? Is the fight going to happen?
Hatton ducked his arch-rival for 10 years, it's unforgiveable IMO Before anyone starts I'm not a Junior Witter fan, just a fan of British boxing
