Why do people want to watch Hopkins vs Dawson?

All I keep reading is that when Calzaghe beat Hopkins, Hopkins was shot or past his best and not what he was etc. So why now, that Hopkins is going to be 3 1/2 years older, why would anyone be interested?

Ive read from Hopkins fans how Hopkins couldnt keep a younger fighter off (just a few days under 36 and coming up in weight) back then and will now be facing a 29 year old full LHW nearly 4 years later.
Funny thing is if Dawson wins it will be his biggest win over a fighter who was so past his best all that time ago, which looks bad on Dawson.

You know all of the excuses about Hopkins losing to Calzaghe, so unless these people are bias why would they want to see Hopkins in this fight and why is it deemed to be such an important boxing match?

Many fighters have achieved great things once long past their prime. There is a huge difference between being past-prime and being shot.

No-one has ever said B-Hop is shot, of course he isn't. He wasn't shot when Jermain Taylor beat him on the cards in 2005, and he isn't shot now.

That's why us Hopkins fans are still interested, because B-Hop isn't shot and still manages to produce good performances, despite his blatant lack of stamina since he hit 40.

Once Bernard becomes shot like Roy Jones did in 2004 and 2005, when Roy was getting knocked out by fighters he'd have whipped in his prime, I'll stop being optimistic about B-Hop's fights. But no-one has convincingly beaten Bernard since the same Roy Jones did it 18 years ago, so the optimism is still alive and kicking!

Because it's typically the type of fighter he's struggled against in his reign. Fast, athletic, two handed fighters, atleast those his own size. For me it's to see how far the PEDs have taken him since the Calzaghe fight lol, j/k. i'm looking forward to this fight and to see how Hopkins does. It will be a good win, despite Dawson's stock having fallen

Thought I was on your ignore list

This is why I say if Hopkins wins I will reassess an old thread to people on this one and give credit. I have always given Hopkins credit but like to keep a fair level on the full picture

it's a great fight, but not for the casual fan. For the casual fan, it will be supremely boring. But for the hard core boxing fan, this match is totally mouth-watering (IMO)
the probably to see an KO or even KD is almost none existent
it will, however, be the opportunity to witness superb display of boxing skills, inside, outside, defensive and offensive
probably just as exiting as a chess match between Karpov and Kasparov

This should be a great fight for those that dont like Hopkins.

Hopkins imo will get domintated by Dawson.

I even have a penchant to say Hopkins will get himself disqualified to save himself from getting knocked out, thats just the type of man he is.

This just shows that you are still hurt that Calzaghe beat Hopkins. Get over it wimp and move on.

Stick with the thread in question.

Here below in read I have brought up my posts on this thread. You point out the bashing parts or you can just hide like a coward, up expecting the latter
Parts taken from my posts on this thread, and the question you bottled at the end

I don't think Dawson will come even close to knocking him out. Hopkins is too cagey and he would have to take loads of shots to get taken out. Dawson fights at a lackadasical pace and this suits hopkins.

well I cant speak for why any other hopkins fan, or boxing fan in general wants to see b-hop vs dawson, but personally, as a hopkins fan, I would like to see him end his career with a big win, at the same time giving a big **** you to mother nature and father time.............but on the other hand, with every fight that the executioner takes now, there is a fear that fight will be THE ONE(where time and nature catch up with ole bernard)

I think Dawson is a bad style match up for Hopkins.

But with Hopkins you never know.

He always finds ways to surprise us.
