whats with the excuse that hatton doesn't belong at 147?

Yeah, Floyd is a natural 130lb and Hatton is a natural 180 when in ideal fighting shape. :roll:

Floyd isn't a natural 130lb, at the olympics he was but he did this strange magical thing called growing and filling out.

 

Hatton doesn't belong at 147 because of his style. His style is to impose his physical strength on opponents and maul them on the inside in clinches, which wears weaker guys down and allows him to find openings for his shots. But at 147, he doesn't enjoy any advantages in strength. It was painfully evident against Collazo that he is a B- level fighter at welterweight. He's best suited to 140.

 

even if that's accurate,and personally I don't agree with it, how can people think Hatton is p4p fighter? How many fighters, especially p4p fighters, go from being a beast to being B- level by moving up 7lbs?

jesus.....the really great fighters can move up multiple weight classes and hold their own. Hatton is a 1 trick pony.

 

The excuse is valid not because of his own physicality at 147 but his absolute ineptitude dealing with other people who weigh 147 or more.

 

He doesn't belong there, plain and simple. What he gains between fights is comepletely irrelevent to his best fighting weight.

Not to mention you are overlooking how much better his opponents are @ 147.

Collazo is a WW. And whether anyone here wants to admit it, Mayweather is a legit WW as well. His body has filled into 147 nicely.

To be fair, Hatton's a little guy. This is why it was so disgusting to think DLH wanted to fight him. DLH towered over Ricky during the press conference. It looked like he was standing next to a Lord Of The Rings Extra. Now Floyd against DLH was equal to difference between Floyd and Ricky but we all knew L'il Floyd can take care of himself.

 

It's not an excuse. Hatton is a midget who really has no business at 147.

 

It really isn't that much of a mystery. People saying it's an excuse are just demonstrating their lack of education on the subject. Or they just really dislike Hatton for whatever made up reason they can think of.

I don't hear people making excuses for Tyson, saying he was a 5'10 heavyweight midget. This 'Hatton is only 5'6' stuff is a nonsense.
