Khan-Mayweather could land on Primetime/Channel 5 if these numbers are good enough.

The TV platform for that, according to sources, is not necessarily going to be Sky, with which Khan fell out in his previous defence, against the Irishman Paul McCloskey in Manchester in April. It could be, if the numbers from this weekend are agreeable, that he remains on the pay-per-view outlet Primetime, with the free-to-air involvement of Channel 5, which are both controlled by Richard Desmond, proprietor of Express Newspapers.

also read in an article on the scene Prometime said they are overhauling there current system and moving onto a HD platform by 2012.

 

Sky would hae no control over where it goes mate, it would be up to Golden boy promotions and Mayweather promotions, i gotta say the involement of channel 5 seems like a big factor IMO, some people dont even have any sky channels but EVERYONE has channel 5, even the OAP's who havnt switched over to digital.

 

i dont know, when it comes to doing the build up and stuff i think HBO will be doing all the work with there 24/7 show, what it comes down to is who can probably give khan-mayweather the best deal as in shares of the PPV, and i think Primetime would be willing to give a bigger share then sky IMO.

 

again its nothing to do with bidding, If khan was all about the money he would have stayed in england and milked the title at the men infront of 17000 every time, instead he fighitng abroad infront of 7000, he could have took the safer more lucrative option here, setanta was a subscribtiion based channel and i dont think it was sky who took them off road. What i think it will come down to is who can offer the best deal when it comes to shares.
