Phew, that's a relief. I put up with enough Liverpool fans in the gym lol.

The right uppercut is about as technically challenging a shot that we try to throw. I've done 6 videos on uppercuts, left and right at short/mid and long range. Here's a link to the mid-range right uppercut, maybe it will help you out.

    Right Uppercut at mid-range

Skills development is an absolute must my mate, make sure you keep striving to become a more complete, technical fighter

    Good Luck

If shadow boxing is "so tiring" you need to work on your fitness. And i personally wouldnt do shadow boxing anyways, cuz if your shadow boxing for 2 months out of a gym then you WILL pick up some bad habits

Why on earth are you doing hill sprints and 100m sprints x whatever during off season.

pointless. The training effect from sprints last about 72 hours.

Surely off season would indicate recovery?

I was doing 3 minute rounds and during rest period was being eager and doing press ups and sit ups etc.

Brown Bomber, I only started boxing in late March so I havent done a full season of boxing. Using this off season to build up my fitness and strength as I want to go back at the start of September in good shape.

Thanks for the above, I am trying to work on the technical aspect of it all but as someone said above I should be wary of picking up bad habits.

I want everything to be right, turning in to the punch, movement etc etc

I got on ok, I havent had a bout yet but towards the end of the season was sparring 3 times a week and I really like the hard work that comes with boxing. Every session you have to push yourself you cant get away with slacking and I like that about boxing...it is proper hard graft, beats anything i've ever done before.

I'm a late starter, 23 going on 24...jealous of the younger lads who are 12/13 as I would have loved to have been doing it then.

I'm from South Essex and the gym is based in my home town, same bloke has been running it for years, its a good place & good atmosphere.

Boxing clubs are just top places! Enjoy it mate, and think of it in these terms

    • You have over a decade in which to box (maximum age = 35)
    • Last years ABA finals contained only 2 boxers who had begun boxing at age 11. Many came in at 17, 18 and 19. That's not much different to 23.

Why? Don't want to damage their chances of going to International tournaments?

Probably and i think it had to do with the european championships but im 100% sure some of the "favourites" didnt enter the ABA's this year

Started last september again but have been slacking and messing around at my first year at uni so have only started training properly since june. Going to the gym when i can but its hard and expensive cos of the timing plus i work 9-6 alot of the time. lots of work at home/local track with a focus on conditioning and weight loss (strength not too bad relatively). Next week tho the gym opens properly and ill be going twice a week plus conditioning at home. gotta make up for lost time:good. My goal is to get my first fight next year march-april preferably before im 20 (mid april).
