Victor Ortiz will Lose because of his Jab

I said the same thing in a thread awhile back. Ortiz has a really lackadaisical pawing jab and Floyd's best move is the pull counter so it's only logical that his Glass Mandible or Heart will shatter round about the eighth round!

Also, Ortiz likes to close the distance with a lunging straight left and Floyd's check hooks is sick, as well.

 

You're right, it's a range-finding kind of jab. If his jab were good, I think 50% is quite a bit too favorable. Odds wise, he may have a greater chance than what Vegas is giving him, but 50% is going too far.

If Victor can work the body he has a big chance even if the jab is his usual. He needs to counter Floyd's jab with his right hook and Floyd's right with his left uppercut to the body.

This fight is much more dangerous than people believe. Golden Boy has big plans for Ortiz, they may see him as their marketable "action" fighter. The ratings on Ortiz vs Berto were through the roof. If Ortiz wins it sets up a huge fight with Manny.
Golden Boy doesn't want to wait around while Floyd takes his time to make the fight.
Most don't know how quickly he jumped into tough fights. Since 2006 he has become a great fighter. He had the most athletic fighter in the game in berto taking breaks on the ropes.

There is no edge, there will be no judge advantage for Floyd. Ortiz is Golden Boy's Pacquiao.

 

Floyd will be going towards Ortiz's right hand away from his left.
ortiz is tricky and he can throw combinations without his jab. He will confuse Floyd early and if he uses this period to attack the body and not headhunt he will have Floyd in troubled waters.

The pace alone will work against Floyd. He has not fought this type of conditioned fighter in too long and doing it out of the ring for 16 months will make Ortiz appear even more tricky and speedy.

When Mayweather is remotely hurt he brings his guard even higher that is when Ortiz needs to go the body where everyone else headhunts a protected area.

I do believe this is a trap fight for Floyd by GBP.

 

When did Rodger allude to Floyd having trouble against a good jabber? I have thought this before, because of his low out put style, but I would like to know if you can tell me.

 

All i have to say is if the same Ortiz that showed up against Berto (mentally determined like a pit bull) shows up against Mayweather, it's going to be a hell of a fight. I've seldom seen a fighter that determined to win a fight. He was not going to be denied that night. It's been a long time since Mayweather fought a hungry, talented, young fighter like Ortiz.

 

Ortiz is gonna get his ass kicked whether he has a good jab or not, he is too reckless, lack ring IQ and has poor defense, all this will lead to him schooled, broken down, and probably stopped late after a beatdown.

 

he doesnt need a jab, hes a southpaw .. he just needs to be aggressive and make a fight out of it. If he boxes he's getting schooled .

 

He'll lose because of a lot of reasons...Floyd being a master of the craft, in general, to Ortiz's being "pretty good" is a more important reason. Huge class difference, forget styles. Forget activity level, ages, sizes, all the rest. Enormous and obvious gulf in class between these guys.
