Another year or three fights, then move up.

I have to disagree. Khan at the weigh-in against Zab was almost like a Zombie and I think he's having a hard time making the weight. 2nd, fighting the winner of Peterson/Cayo Prescott/McCloskey is a total waste of time cause you know both winners will be a horrible mismatch and it won't do much of Khan's P4P ranking. The Maidana/Guerrero winner is the only fight left at 140 besides Bradley who's a ****ing idiot thinking he can land a fight against Pac/Floyd when he can't even sell 2,000 tickets in his hometown. Khan should move to 147 if the Bradley fight won't get made. Of course he's fighting this December and I'm hoping its against Maidana/Guerrero then move to 147 by 2012.

Khan easily has the frame to go as high as 154 without much trouble I think.

We all agree he should do what he's comfortable with, but considering his legacy, there is more at 140

What good are those legacy defining fights when you're jeopardizing it by coming in drained? Khan can't make the 140 in a year there's no doubt about it or he'll risk losing and losing bad like the prescott fight which will only be a setback. He have several good fights at 147. There's kell brook mike jones Ortiz Berto Aydin or even Maidana and Alexander who might perform better at Welter. Those names are way lot better than the winners of Peterson/Cayo or Morales/Barrios. Who else left at 140 that could present a challenge for Amir? None!

i just said i agree he should do what he's comfortable with.

and as for who's a legacy enhancing fight at 140: bradley (but he's ducked khan), peterson, prescott (especially if he beats paul), guerrero (he's gonna make maidana look shite), morales (big unification), matthyse (in reality an unbeaten fighter who should be ranked above maidana)

According to Khan, he also has one of the best chins in the business :conf

I wouldn't take what he said there too seriously.

I personally would love to see him stay at 140 if he's still able to comfortably make weight. As lufcrazy's just said, he has a good opportunity to build himself a very respectable legacy at the weight. I also have the feeling that he won't be the same force at 147 like he is at 140. His power won't be as respected, and he'll have to make do with heavier hitters up there too. But, if he's struggling to make weight, then I guess he has no choice but to move up.

agreed, he could certainly surpass hatton and maybe even tzyu putting himself right up there in the rankings but it's be more and more difficult for him.

i think his style at 147 would be much more cautious with a decrease in power and an increase in vulnerability, plus right now, the names aren't there for him.

like the consensus opinion, it might be the right choice but obviously he has to take care of his body. it explains why he's been so desperate to fight bradley and now for morales, he obviously wants that unification quickly which does signal an impending move up.

I don't think he has much of a choice, he's getting too big for the weight and we saw what kind of effect it had on his body when he had to boil down to 135.

It seemed like a Morales fight might be on the cards anyway, but now Morales looks like he could be WBC champ Khan will defo end up fighting him for the chance to be undisputed champ at light welter. I think that'll be his last fight at 140.

Would've been nice to see him in against the Maida-Guerrero winner but I doubt we will.

I heard similar things when Khan first moved up to lightwelter. Khan's no power puncher (BTW he has hurt opponents as LWW) but he still will be a beast with his speed which is his major asset

I think things might be ok considering the landscape because the major players will all be natural lightwelters anyways so they won't have significant advantages over him.

Nah, get Floyd in the ring as soon as he can. Too much money to be made and never know when that chin will give out. If you think his chin will not fail him though, I suppose it would be a smart business move to wait till Floyd looks definitely slowed down.
