WBO number 1 contender Gary Lockett is hoping for a clash with the winner of Pavlik Taylor. IMO i think Lockett is steppin out of his league here but if the WBO has him down as number 1 contender then good luck to him. I ask if he`s known as the guy is from my town Cwmbran, his sis and i are ole school buds. It`s a shame to say but folk round here who know him say that he thinks he`s god and has a real bad attitude. I think he likes to think of himself as PBF but without all the belts ya know. He has now got a top trainer in Enzo Calzaghe and he hasnt got a bad record 30-1-21 so maybe he deserves his chance but i just dont think he cut`s the mustard. Sorry Gazza you got my support but nip the arrogance in the bud homes it`s doing you no favors
Lockett is okay, but the fact that he's trained by ENZO CALZAGHE makes me think that he wouldn't walk into a Pavlik fight with his head on the chopping block. Pavlik will beat this guy if they tangle, but it would be a good fight as both would lay it on the line.
I think Lockett is ok , he has shown some good skills, would put up a good fight with most middleweights, dont think he is quite the puncher he thinks he is though,
I never thought he was the same after the terrific beating he took from Yuri Tsarenko. The WBO are a joke, boxrec have Lockett at number 28 so how can they have him at number one? Look at his record & you tell me who he has beaten to warrent a shot at Kelly Pavlik? It's disgusting & is the reason I dont think they should be included in an undisputed title.
He will wait for Pavlik to vacate, which he will do whether he moves up or stays at M/W. HBO would not Pay for Lockett vs Pavlik.
why would he fight the winner of Taylor/Pavlik when the fight is above the MW limit? Probably what will happen is that if Taylor beats Pavlik the WBO will be vacated and then Lockett can fight some other contender for the title.
So accordng to the WBO that would mean Gary Lockett & John Duddy would fight for the middleweight championship of the world.:roll: atsch
He did take ell of a beating against Tsarenko but fair play to him he got a rematch back on a yr later and beat Tsarenko in the 10th. I agree he hasnt face top pedigree but maybe now in his 30+ fights he should at least get a chance with somebody who got a rep. Fact is noone likes a show off unless they can bak it up which noone thinks he can. He`s got a serious mountain to climb for recognition and i just can`t see it in him being WBC, WBA etc i would wonder how the hell he won those belts it if he did. But i`ll chuck support his way who ever he faces, he`s from my side of town and it be wrong not too :bbb
