you're not looking long term. Showtime knows HBO is on the ropes. They are going for the kill with how they are revamping their name.

Hopkins vs Dawson PPV? why the **** would you include that in your argument?:rofl:patsch

Im not buying this! Gomez is the best hes ever been, better Gomez then Cotto fought if you ask me. Peterson-Cayo was supposed to be on the undercard and telivised by HBO but it didnt work out and they went to Friday night fights in a war (Meaningful fight for sure).

Maidana-Guerreuo is a serious fight, Mayweather-Ortiz, Morales-Barrios (For what its worth) Hopkins-Dawson (Huge fight).

I like showtime and there putting on great fights, but I also like HBO too. If the Maidana, Khan or Mayweather fight is not imporant then somebody shoot me

HBO obviously is much better, but Showtime does run a tighter operation and get more out of what it has.

Funny I don't much like the look of the HBO fights either. With a couple acceptions. But I agree with the point of the list. A couple of years ago you could have made the arguement that HBO was the **** fights and tha tshowbox and showtime championship boxing was the place where people proved there metal. But frankly showbox these days is maginally talented prospects vs some bum with an over inflated record out of the mid west who is only on the show cause his 17-0 record makes it look like he's going to be competitive. ShowTime championship boxing is still pretty good though. IMO sky sports dollar for dollar is able to put on the best fights with the most compelling action. Those battles for the Lonsdale belt are always good entertainment.

I think what bothers some people about HBO is that they have this enormous budget and instead of using it to better the sport - i.e. making great competitive fights with the big names - they use it to showcase big names in non competitive fights (usually).

With the money they throw around they could really influence boxing for the good. Like what they did with Alexander vs. Bradley, yes in hindsight the fight turned out to be a dud, but HBO did the right thing in forcing it to come together. They obviously took a wrong turn in guaranteeing the the fighters comeback fights of 1 million plus...but that's a different story.
