Tony '2 Ton' Galento who lost his world heavyweight title shot against Joe Louis in 1939, VS David 'Tuaman' Tua who lost his world heavyweight title shot against Lewis in 2000? Galento got KO'd in 4, But did knockdown Louis. Tua lasted the full 12 Rounds in mainly survival mode VS Lewis. Both fat, both v.short, both powerful stocky sluggers. Galento a alcoholic, And Superheavy Tua a Burger King Addict. Who wins teh slugfest between 2 plump stumpy sluggers who failed in their world heavyweight title attempts??

My money would be on Galento if he showed up in top shape like the Lou Nova fight.

But really, he would probably get drunk before the fight, get a beer mug smashed in his face. Show up bleeding and vomiting, following a confused Tua around, eating a few punches and cursing, finally quitting on his stool because his trunks are too tight or some such.

Tua's the more skilled out of the two,so my money's on him. 'Two Ton' could make it quite lively for a while though.

"Two Ton" via KO, by sheer lucky punch.

Evolution, particular since the 20's and 30's in HWs has occurred to some extent. It just happens gradually, and of course this improvement has plateaued long ago. And this evolution isn't in skills, just a combination of effectiveness due to having size and enough skill to boot. There will always be exceptional fighters from a time period that can stand out and transcend past the bigger, more modern Heavyweight staples. In this case, I'd go with Tua quite confidently.

I think Bonavena vs Tua would be a more interesting thread. I'm not sure, I might pick Bonvaena in such a fight.

    Tua via early KO.

Two limited sluggers, but one has more power & a tougher chin.
