Soft title, relatively soft opponent but Magee deserves credit for the road warrior attitude he has taken over the past couple of years. http://www.boxing-ireland.com/20110731_brian_magee_barboza_fight_1.html
No. Not a 'soft title', a bull**** title that means **** all. You don't become a champion of anything by beating the world number 106. Still, I like Magee he normally puts up good fights and hopefully can get another few good opponents. Does this mean Britain now has 5 world champions? :think
Congratulations of course to Mr. Magee. I just hope that he can back this paper title up with a couple of good defences and then get credit for what has been a very decent career.
DeGale goes for the Euro, Groves outdoes him and challenges for Brian for the interim world belt. Watch.
Didn't realise this guy was ranked 106...? Is that by a different sanctioning body or is it the WBA, it just goes to show how much politics dominates the sport. Still, Magee deserves it and hopefully it propels him to a real world title. No, it doesn't mean Britain has 5 world champions, it means Britain has 4 world champions and Ireland has an interim champion. :thumbsup
****ing disgraceful how world titles are passed out these days, im happy for magee but circumstances are all wrong
Absolute bull**** but you can only beat the guy infront of you from Magee's perspective. I'm sure he'd like to face somebody with a pulse next though.
Poor performance by Magee, ive seen many of his fights and hes a lot better fighter than he showed last night, but I think his negative and akward opponent had something to do with that. Hopefully Magee steps it up next time. Well done to Brian, it might be a joke of a title, but hopefully he at least gets to fight for the ordinary version, for what its worth:good
