Two of my fav fighters and i feel i know them very well. I have very little doubt Ward wins. This isn't Pascal or Pavlik here, this is a young, hungry fighter with skills who will not let Hopkins settle into his Sunday pace. He has to intelligence to come in with a game plan to make Hopkins work harder than he wants too. Once you do that, you will see Hopkins resort to energy saving strategies (behind the head, low blow, etc).

This isn't throws 10 punches a round Pascal. Ward wins handedly.

Prime Hopkins would beat Ward though.

My vote says this fight would be a stinker.. but it could be a chess match between young and old and turn out to be a great fight.. Ward takes him.. but im not sure how the respect for Hopkins would affect his fight plan..

I guess Ward would take it, by a close UD and a wide UD when it's held in Oakland.
But I certainly wouldn't watch it, it has stinker written all over it.

    Round 1)
Ward pushes B-Hop against the ropes, locks one arm up and hits him with the other on the side of the head. B-Hop goes down and claims to be hit on the back of the head. Referee rules "no knockdown".
    10-9 Ward

    Round 2)
Clinch, hitting and holding, pushing, occasional headbutt, B-Hop can get his arms free occasionally and can hit Ward with a couple of hooks and uppercuts but not to many. Gets a few as well.
    10-9 B-Hop

    Round 3)
Lot of infighting, clinching, punching when holding until it even gets on Hopkins nerves. B-Hop forcibly breaks out of the clinch, and gets a warning from the referee. Ward immidiatly clinches again and holds and hits. B-Hop gets a warning from the referee for holding when he tries to break free more conservatively.
    10-9 Ward

    etc... etc... :-((

Spot on about the mental aspect of it. Its pointless trying to get inside Ward's head as he is just so locked in with what he has to do. Ward would make Hopkins fight when he wants a breather and thats key. Ward for me.

Ward might be favorite, but only based on his ability to adapt to the opponents weaknesses. Either i see Ward outwork Bhop, or Bernard taking him to school by dominating him. But i still fancy Bhop to pull an upset, and Ward is overhyped. Froch fight will tell us much more about SOB
