I don't think Stinks has done anything to warrant a fight with Mayweather. And I believe that Floyd owes it to his fans and critics alike to at least fight Cotto before he calls it a career.

Real greats take risks. Floyd will never do that.

Spinks failed his first 160 weigh-in vs Taylor IIRC, can he even make 147 anymore?

    WHAT?

the guy started at Super Featherweight and went right up to fight De La Hoya at Light Middle, he didnt have to do that at all, on his way up he has fought planty of top quality oponents, the only division he didnt dominate with any real clarity was LW, he only beat Gatti, but he still went on to beat the Linear 140 champ in Ricky Hatton.

Trust me, Floyd Mayweather Jr is an ATG and one of the best talents we have seen in the last ten years or so.

One of the most talented yes not of the last ten years, but one of the most talented ever. But he has also avoided a ton of fighters so until he beats at least a Cotto he is not an ATG.

    Who has he avoided?

I can only think you are talking about Freitas, Casamayor... You cant accuse a fella of ducking if he then goes onto fight better oponents at higher weights. He hasnt yet fought Cotto but who is he ducking excactly?

All this Cotto talk...who has Cotto beaten besides Mosley in a close decision that had him running in the later rounds? "If" Cotto fights Dela Hoya and loses...will that automatically give FM his ATG status? The guy is already an ATG! He beat alot of big name fighters....and made some of them look pretty bad in the process......and to beleive that the old time greats didn't have managers picking and chosing their fights as they progressed is nonsense. Even Cotto's opposition has been hand picked by Arum. Now Cotto is in the stage of his career that is "put up or shut up". Every fight from here on out will be a major test for Cotto. So, give FM the credit he has earned and stop giving Cotto the credit he has clearly not earned yet! (and I don't even like FM....)

Tszyu - he fought a bunch of BUMS at 140. Bruseles, Ndou, Corely.
Margarito - he has not fought any legitimate WW period.
Spinks - He fought Delahoya when Spinks was the best at 154.
Winky - He called out Winky and did not fight him
and until he fights him Cotto!

He is an ATG already, but if he wants to get up into the top 10, he would have to beat Cotto and then beat either Williams, Spinks, or Forrest.

PBF is one of the better boxers out there, but has picked his fights carefully. If he fights Cotto and wins, I'd then rate his as one of the ATG's, but until then, he's on par with Oscar.
