If this is true i would personally advise against the LASIK, unless you enjoy a good scrapeing of the cornea every so often when the scarring has caused lesions and its not healing up properly, theyre always fun :scaredas:

Isn't it that if you get Lasik you can't get hit in the eye for 10 months or something? Someone told me this but I have no clue if true or not.

You say you love boxing yet are so eager to quit because your contact might fall out?

My contacts fall out when I spar sometimes and I have awful vision but that is a horrible excuse to quit man.

Anyway, before you spar put re wetting drops in your eyes it seems to help me a lot.

everybody i know has told me to quit, even my ohptalmologist (after telling me i had no eye injuries whatsoever after boxing for a year).
**** them, i have never had injuries though and had my first amateur fight last month

OP make a choice and live with it, if you're posting here its because you feel ashamed and are trying to make excuses for yourself. you didnt really even ask a question, you are just whining.
if you don't love boxing enough, thats that, not everybody loves boxing. just don't *****.

Am I correct in assuming that those with poor eyesight that are having amateur fights are fighting unlicensed?

I have fairly poor eyesight (-3.75) and failed my medical (the week of a tournament I was meant to be fighting in!) on eyesight. The reason given was increased risk of retinal detachment. I'm interested if there is a way round this that you guys have found - or just fight unlicensed, or get laser surgery.

I lose my contacts during sparrings on regular bases, and as a rule during 1st round in fights :)
Sometimes i even like it - adds intensity you know!
My eyesight is pretty ****ed by the way -3.75 and -3.25.
Use proper headgear, improve defense technique, improve footwork, chin down & hands up.
Focus on these for a while, and you will get hit less, as a result minimizing risk of damaging not just eyes but brain too.
Bad eyesight is ****ed, people with proper vision are lucky *******s!
