i personally think he is overated because what has he actually done?
i mean amir khan proved how past it earl was and yet katstidas almost got put down and earned fight of the year against him and then his fight after that he doesnt win that convincingly against a c-level fighter.
to sum him up id say he is a power house with average skills and slightly below average chin but with a lot of heart.
no way would he be beating diaz

He is the next Arturo Gatti. Will be in some exciting fights, but won't become world champion.

    Who actually rates him?

Most people see him for what he is, an exciting power puncher with a lack of defence and boxing skill

He has a fan-friendly style, but I think he's a bit overrated myself. He needs to work on his defense. He is very hittable and seems a bit one-dimensional. A boxer-type like Guzman would expose him bigtime..

I disagree because I don't think that anyone right now actually rates him that highly... He is still a solid fighter, who is fairly in-experienced and is looking to improve.

if khan was fighting khan next i wouldnt like to bet on it cause katstidas may knock him out but khan could definitely stop him late with great conbos

If anything the Khan fight showed how much damage Katsidis inflicted on Earl. Khan just finished what Katsidis started.

But anyway like dude said above...no one really rates Katsidis that high. He's obviously limited and suscpetible to being outboxed. Still he's one of the most exciting fighters today and will be a handful for anyone in his division.

he is overrated in the sense that he has been in two exciting fights but is being given credit beyond the merit of those two, but he is not overrated for being entertaining

not sure how people believe he is underated or overated.

to me it should be pretty obvious what katsides brings to the table.

he is a very heavy handed banger who is willing to take a punch to land a punch/willing to mix it up with anyone and keep up a high workrate.

he is not going to try and be something he is not and be a slick boxer/counterpuncher etc etc.

to me if you think he cannot punch, then he is underated.

if you think he can ko every fighter then he is overated.

but other than those obvious conclusions katsides is
what you see is what you get.

good entertaining fighter will never be p4p but is good at what he does.

Who is overrating him? Most people here seem to think he is a power-puncher with no defence who cuts easily.

The second time I've seen a thread today regarding a fighter being over rated.

Again nopes . . . Kats is simply an action fighter who is very exciting inside the ring. Reason why to this time he has already earned a lot of admirers even though he hasn't accomplished much yet.

Katsidis is a good young fighter who generates excitment in the sport, he hasn't been truely tested yet, so i can't see how he can be overrated when he hasn't been in the ring with a top 3 opponent yet!
If Casamayor whips his ass and makes him look foolish then i guess you could say he wasn't ready but he sure looks a lot more advanced than Khan and Katsidis is taking no easy path here.

Katsidis is the next Gatti, and like Arturo, he'll never beat the truly best in any division he goes to. Sure, he'll beat Casamayor in their upcoming fight, but Casamayor is pretty much shot. Baby might get put on a knee or even take a cut from the valiant Katsidis, but he would lose via KO in the end.
