Just been looking at the Sky Sports boxing fixtures and the list looks impressive. Which fights will they actually show though? Sky have a habit of listing some fights in their fixture list that they don't show. These are some of the fights they have listed: Maidana v Guerrero Vitali v Adamek Floyd v Ortiz Morlales v Barrios Barker v Martinez Berto v Zaveck Hopkins v Dawson Alvarez v Gomez Some quality fights listed there!!!
I reckon the Sky schedule for the new season will be. September 3rd Jamie McDonell vs Stuart Hall (European, British & Commonwealth Bantamweight) September 9th Stephen Smith vs TBA (British & Commonwealth Featherweight) September 10th Paul McCloskey vs Breidis Prescott (WBA Light Welterweight eliminator) Kiko Martinez vs Carl Frampton (European Super Bantamweight) Vitali Klitscko vs Tomasz Adameck (WBC Heavyweight) September 15th Prizefighter: Light Middleweights 2 September 17th Pitor Wilezcewski vs James DeGale (European Super Middleweight) Floyd Mayweather vs Victor Ortiz (WBC Welterweight) September 24th Gary Skykes vs Gary Buckland (British Super Featherweight) October 1st Gavin Rees vs Derry Matthews (European Lightweight) Sergio Martinez vs Darren Barker (World Middleweight title) October 8th Jason Booth vs Scott Quigg (British & Commonwealth Super Bantamweight) October 15th Kell Brook vs TBA Bernard Hopkins vs Chas Dawson (World Light Heavyweight) October 22nd George Groves vs TBA October 26th Prizefighter: ??? October 29th - Sky Box Office Carl Froch vs Andre Ward Nathan Cleverly vs Tony Bellew
I would expect them to show... August 27: WBA light-welterweight title Marcos Maidana v Robert Guerrero September 3: British, C'wealth & European bantamweight titles Jamie McDonnell v Stuart Hall IBF welterweight title Andre Berto v Jan Zaveck September 10: 12 rounds light-welterweight Paul McCloskey v Breidis Prescott European super-bantamweight title Kiko Martinez v Carl Frampton WBC heavyweight title Vitali Klitschko v Tomasz Adamek September 17: European super-middleweight title Piotr Wilczewski v James DeGale WBC welterweight title Floyd Mayweather v Victor Ortiz WBC light-welterweight title Erik Morales v Jorge Barrios WBC featherweight title Jhonny Gonzalez v Elio Rojas WBC light-middleweight title Saul Alvarez v Alfonso Gomez September 24: British super-featherweight title Gary Sykes v Gary Buckland October 1 WBC Diamond middleweight title Sergio Martinez v Darren Barker October 8: British super-bantamweight title Jason Booth v Scott Quigg October 15: WBC light-heavyweight title Bernard Hopkins v Chad Dawson
I think you'll get Hopkins-Dawson on delay at best. Barker-Martinez may be the same but other wise I agree Maidana-Guerrero may have highlights on Ringside
Personally I think Martinez vs Barker will be live , with Barker now being with Matchroom I think this will be a lock in.
Neither Maidana v Guerrero/Morales v Barrios will be on SKY. If Khan was still a SKY fighter they probably would show these fights, just like they did with Alexander v Bradley who were potential opponents for Khan at the time. I think Vitali/Adamek might be on considering they nearly always show the K brothers fights, even if they are mismatches. Although they usually bundle them with British fights and the only other fight on Sep 10th is Gamoba vs Leon. Barker vs Sergio will be a live broadcast me thinks, they have moved Rees vs Matthews (see skysports boxing) for this reason IMO. Considering Andy Lee is also on the card also you have three good fights all with British/Irish boxers. Berto v Zaveck/Alvarez v Gomez, nah cannot see that one and yes I think Hopkins vs Dawson may have some kind of delay but then again would the fact that this is PPV have a bearing on that? They shown Canelo vs Rhodes which was a Boxing after Dark episode, I'm not sure whether the cost would go up significantly for PPV delays.
Morales is on the Mayweather undercard so if Sky are showing the main event then they will also show Erik.
I defiantly at the very least expect them to show the mayweather card live and if not then that is a major disgrace and will probably Mark the end of big time boxing on sky
