The WBC has had an especially discusting year and a half. I can't even say this is the biggest joke they've been a part of.
ypu need to add this to my thread OFFICIAL THREAD of just how HORRIBLE the WBA,WBC, IBF KEEP GETTING http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?p=10331993#post10331993
he should have had a WBA belt , they let guillermo jones sit idle for almost 2 years before even threatening him
Im glad they did this and he deserves it, if only to send a message to boxers not to avoid your rivals in attempts to cash out in mega pay days you dont have much chance in. Imagine if he had ducked khan, kept belt then got a mega fight, it would have increased the chance of similiar situationa reapeating themselfs more and more in the future
but it doesnt say much to letting 2 guys fight for it that dont have any business fighting for it....barrios has never even fought at 140 and has only had 2 fights at 135
In their minds they probally think they are gifting it to Khan, since he will probally fight the winner. So the message is, you avoid a fight in that way and we will give your belt to the other guy anyway. Very corrupt as everyone says but in this case TB deserves it imo.
Total bull****. The man is still within the time limit to fight his next mandatory by the WBC's own rules.
Black, this argument only holds water if it were still the old days where there's a universall acknowledged "world's champion of <insert weight>". This is not the case. Additionally, boxing isn't the UFC. It isn't under one umbrella promotion which pretty much controls everything and thus has the legitimacy to strip someone if they <insert random reason here, e.g. not fighting the top of the crop>. The UFC has garnered a strong reputation as the premiere MMA organization, and for most fans-- barring the hardcore crowd-- are the sole legitimate authority out there, and all anyone watches. Boxing does not mirror that at all. Our sport is murked in a decentralized, corrupt number of *sanctioning* bodies as opposed to a top-down organization. These organizations are adversarial and all have their own interests, and when there's no central body, everything gets messed up. This is not to say that having one organization control everything solves all woes, but our's is a truly ****ed up system that just allows the WBC to do **** like this-- while, due to history-- still being passed off as something legitimate-- and which boxers fight tooth and nail for, coveting, even though their meaning has become obfuscated. This is both due to the fracturing of everything, and the internal corruption therein.
