 leonard doesn't hit that hard. i think martinez hits harder than Leonard and was naturally bigger. Hagler ko hearns but i think hagler kos paul too. but if i had to put my money on who got better chin. I think Paul is better (chin wise)
Leonard was a true KO puncher at 147 and could crack above that weight too. He definitely hit harder than Sergio.
Easy to say. We have a whole career worth of fights for Hearns 67 of them against hard punchers, compared to the guys Williams has fought. Hearns took Hagler's first round punches and Williams couldn't take Martinez punch and you think Williams has a better punch? Hearns has taken hard punches also in his career. He fought a guy named Freddie Delgado when he was older and he took hammering punches. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o91gztcYVas[/ame] Williams took punches yesterday, but Hearns took punches in his career also. Wait until Williams fights a hard puncher. Hearns fought many hard punchers.
Hearns aint as bad as he is made out to be. Dont forget that was the 14th round he was stopped in against SRL and SRL was a tough dude who pulled out all the stops. If that was a 12 round fight like today Hearns would have won. He was overtrained and SRL broke him down. He broke his hand on Hagler's head and they were going all out from round 1. Who is to say Hagler wouldnt stop Williams if they brawled like that too?
Until Williams fights his whole career and fights guys like Hagler and Duran and Leonard and Benitez, you cannot say his chin is better. And Hearns did stand up to Barkley's punches in the rematch. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsvZHaLw4D8[/ame] too early to compare Hearns chin to Williams. Hearns did not have a terrible chin. It was not rock solid, but it was not weak. If it was weak he would not have had 67 fights and only stopped 3 times.
Wow. I don't think I have seen a fighter commit to punching the way Hearns did. He just pinpoints power punches and goes for it. Almost intense. That is why he wore out in fights, he was too intense. He went for it too much. That Hearns/Barkley first round here is great. I don't remember people talking about this fight much. That was a great round. Just as good as Williams/Martinez.
Thomas Hearns always came to fight. He was always exciting and some of his fights like the Barkley rematch were not given enough credit for excitement. Most people just expected Hearns to be exciting and took him for granted.
