P4P Top 10??

Nah, he's been following me around for some reason. He likes to rile Irish posters, the only problem being that; who's the number one enemy of Irish posters? Yep, Jpab ''Peace, Not War'' 19, so it hasn't really worked out for him, and he's followed me to the lounge before just to call me a '****', with no success thus far. And now that I indulge him, and challenge him to a rap battle, he bails.

Top 7 for me are nailed on

Ward is improving with every fight, has the big win against Kessler and some very good wins since.

Segura for his 2 wins over Calderon and has looked very strong in other fights over the last couple of years.

For me Froch has to be in there with the run of fights he's been on.

Khan and Gamboa are very close but still need a win against a marquee fighter to break in IMO.

The top six or so are pretty much set in stone. Depending on how Mayweather looks against Ortiz he might slot in the top 5. I'm reluctant to give too much credit to a man who's been on holiday for the best part of four years and beating only Ortiz - who let's not forget lost to Maidana and drew with Peterson.

From 7-10 it's pretty much any four from about fifteen. I like the work of Ward & Froch over someone like Khan despite the impressive win over Zab. Segura has only really beaten Calderon but the manner of victory helps here.

I prefer that over Cotto who's basically had two tuneups since the loss to Pac.

Convince me otherwise.

It's not exactly hating to point out that Mayweather hasn't been active for years, and when he has he's not faced the best fighters in the division.

I thought P4P was supposed to rank fighters based on current form rather than historical achievements. Mayweather is probably the most talented fighter in the world, but in terms of proving at at welterweight in recent years, I'm afraid he's simply not there.

I'd say Marquez beating Diaz x2 and Katsidis trumps Floyd's WW career..... likewise Martinez, a clear decision over Pavlik, and KO wins over Dzinziruk and Williams.

It's obvious that we're never going to see eye to eye on this one.

 

Cool, so we're rating a guy in the P4P list based on stuff that happened years ago?

Also, the way he went about some of those wins (Baldomir, Marquez and Oscar in particular) was not indictative of a top-level fighter IMO.

More a fast athlete.

I can concede on Martinez, going by official results he drew with Cintron and lost to Williams, plus for a fair % of that five year period (between Judah & now) he was fighting no names.

Marquez is slightly different.

Wins over Jaca, Juarez (about/slightly higher than Baldomir level), Barrera, Casamayor, Diaz x2 & Katsidis is certainly comparable if not better - if you consider him shutting Pacquiao down (ala Mayweather vs Mosley) for large stretches of the fight that record is impressive.

 

If you go with your eyes rather than official results I think Marquez has at least one win over Pac (the 2nd fight)

 

Yeah, Marquez had that by a couple.

I had it level at the halfway point (scored the 3rd 10-9 not 10-8 )and Marquez took four of the last six to win it.

At times in that fight it seemed Marquez was playing with him, especially in the 6th round, which several *******s on the general gave to Manny.

 

Will have to dig out by rbr but I had it 115-112 to JMM.
