What kind of bizarre logic is, "I can see Martinez winning by a point, but that shouldn't cause Pavlik to lose his title"? If you're the champ, and you lose the fight by a point - you've lost the fight. And if you lose the fight, you lose the title. The robbery would be giving the champion some kind of head start just because he's the champion.
I thought Martinez clearly won the fight but wasn't dominant. Pavlik landing some really hard punches and hurt Martinez at times... the most painful thing about that fight to me was that it was a winnable won for Pavlik had he thrown to the body. Jack Loew has really hampered Pavlik's career and made him way to one dimensional. "Double the jab, throw the right hand"... well that works on some guys but not against movers like Martinez.
:rofl:rofl:rofl I once said it was onesided but after watching it again i take it back. I had Pavlik winning four rounds plus that bs KD its 115 - 112
Is this thread serious? Pavlik deserved a draw? Even if Martinez won by a point on the cards, the judges should have thought "**** that Pavlik's American, we change our verdict to a draw"???? :blood
And of course all real boxing fans dont like seeing champs getting "the benefit of the doubt"...right?? I mean, its completely unfair and antiquated
This fight was extremely easy to score. It was either 115-112 or 115-111 depending on if you gave Martinez a 10-8 (no knockdown) round for round 9.
Pavlik lost Clearly! 115-112 is just fine with me! Pavlik was up 1 point after 8 i think. The fight was more competitive then what people made it seem like Martinez Dominated! People See Blood and a fighters face and assume He got his ass beat, Thats not always the case!
WTF??? This is bollocks! Martinez clearly won, and I was a Pavlik fan at the time. In the middle rounds Pavlik finally came alive, he started to time Martinez and caught him and dropped him. I thought Pavlik would get a late TKO but he instead he got cut and Martinez bagged the next 4 rounds making him the CLEAR winner easily.
