"You cant take pride with you" Or something to that effect. Basically he was talking about how you have to make all the money you can, and at the end of your career you arent fighting for pride, you are fighting for a pay check. How many of you ******s hate to hear a prize fighter say something like that?

    All fighters fight for money.

But Erik Morales did not turn southpaw in the 12th round against Pacquiao for money, and he didn't fight with a second head growing out of his right eyeball against the biggest puncher in the highest division he's competed in, for money.

Nor does he take time off in his prime when he should be taking big fights. He openly and consistently says he performs for the fans and his people, even though all fighter's are smart enough to recognize that finances are the primary goal of an occupation.

Nobody is a ****** for disliking when Floyd emphasizes money over entertaining competition within the sport, so stop trying to draw parallels that fail to defend Floyd's every breath.

Erik Morales exact words were, at the end of your career, you stay on because you are fighting for money. Pride is meaningless when your career is over. Are you saying he's lying?

nothing wrong with saying that, fighters are unlike any other sport that they need to make their fame and reputation first and earn their money later unless you're leaonard or dlh....

morales right now can earn a lot more money fighting bums or regular fighters than he did at the beginning of his career even when he was champion...

they need to squeeze as much money as they can from the sport before leaving it for good and if they can avoid hard fights where they'll get hurt so what... they earned all that

    :hat

I recorded the same documentary on espn classic last Saturday. Here is the full quote from the captions (translated)

"sometimes it isn't that important if you win or lose, at the end of your career they say, he went out like a champion. Yeah, he went out a champion, but poor, because he didn't make any more money. You know, what are you going to live on? Pride? When I started out, I earned 400 pesos per fight. 400 and then you have to pay 30% to your team. Then you have to pay for your shorts, your robe, your equipment. And if you lose or get knocked out, they force you to rest for 45, 60 days. So it's very difficult for a boxer to really make it. When you finally get there and you're making good money... You tell me, are you going to quit?"

    Classic Morales! :deal

Nobody, but it's not important to stress whether people are fighting for money and not pride as long as they fight with pride. No? Now, if you're fighting because you need money (Joe Louis, Mike Tyson) that's another story. But if you fight merely for money and just go down to get a payday. Well then, that's a problem. That's not right for the fans. Most understand when fighters are going for the bigger pay day fights. Fans are usual practical.

Yeah the fans crap on fighters for only fighting for money, but some fighters really are just in it because of the money. It's their job.

Also what documentary is this. I want to see it. Chavez is one of my favorite fighters
