I would put my money on the Klitschko brothers as well. I'm not too impressed by Ali. Yes, he was fast, made good use of angles etc., but I would consider the almost super-human status that he holds on these forums to be due to gullible morons not knowing the difference between showmanship and ability.

George Foreman was a pretty one-dimensional fighter, even more so than the Klitschkos, and Ali still had to employ methods that came pretty close to what I'd call "cheating" in order to win. And Foreman is NOT as good as the Klitschkos, in fact, they are even better at power-punching and bullying than he was.

Don't get me wrong. Both Ali and Foreman were great fighters in their own right - but in their own time.

Speaking of morons and such, who the **** uses the 1974 Ali as an example? Take off 10 years and watch him dismantle Liston, who was 5 times the fighter the Klits are.

Ali was 32 in 1974. Nothing wrong there, still had 10 consecutive wins after that. And I used the parallel to Foreman because his style is comparable to that of the Klitschkos. But still, I rather doubt that many heavyweights of today would prefer fighting a prime Vitaly Klitschko over the 6 ft. Sonny Liston.

And Sonny Liston was 10x the fighter Vitali ever was.

And to answer your question, I think that it is pretty widely recognized that Vitaly had to retire due to injuries by the time he hit his (potential) prime. You answered your question yourself. Vitaly fought Lennox, who at least to my estimation definitely would have beaten Ali, and did so quite impressively.

This is the nature of such speculative match-ups. There is nothing but names and statistics to compare, because none of the fighters have fought eachother or the same fighters. I just don't believe that the tiny heavyweights of the 60's and 70's would stand a chance against the monsters walking around today. They look more impressive on tape because they were smaller, and therefore were able to move faster. But a slight advantage in speed does not make up for a 40 lbs difference in weight and a 3 inch difference in height.
