No, I'm not one of those that tries to paint that fight as more grueling than it really was for Fedor. He dominated the fight outside of the jab that broke his nose in the first and what you're talking about above when Rogers reversed and hit him a few times on the ground. That certainly wasn't something I expected to happen but it wasn't that bad, only three or four punches got through and had it been stopped it would have been a travesty.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Fedor sucks or anything. He deserves praise for soundly beating Nog (twice) and Cro Cop when they were still in their prime (s). He's still a threat to almost any hw fighter on the planet. Just very overrated.
+1 I don't usually pay attention or care what Dana says about fighters and I don't particularly care in this instance either. Anyone who expects anything different from Dana is living in a dream world, and honestly, why would he say anything different? We can talk about respect for a legend all we want but the truth is that Dana has cause to harbor nothing but dislike towards Fedor. Fedor needs to hang it up. He can never be HW champion again and by the looks of the Hendo fight even if he was able to cut to 205 he couldn't cut it there either. He is a shell of his former self who doesn't seem to have any interest in utilizing his full skillset anymore. It's like he FORGOT how he fights and is not simply walking into the cage throwing wild hooks like an unskilled amateur. He is the GOAT in my opinion but he is clearly lost the edge. Also, to respond to a post made much earlier in this thread, it is highly highly unlikely that Fedor will remain the greatest of all time "probably forever". MMA is too young and the best fighters have yet to be seen.
Picking "the greatest HW of all-time" to destroy a great MW isn't a stupid pick and nearly everyone did so because that's what should have happened. Thing is, either Fedor wasn't the same fighter he once was or he was highly overrated and I tend to lean towards the former with a touch of the latter.
Is Dana ****ing stupid? 3 losses or not, Fedor is a huge name and can make Strikeforce a lot of money. Same goes for guys like Tito Ortiz in the UFC. I thought Dana was a businessman, he's a pretty damn stupid one.
Who cares , think about it from a business perspective. Big names make money, losses or not. I personally don't care whether he lets these guys go or not, but from a business perspective it's pretty dam ******ed. And there are way worse cases then Fedor out there who still managed to not get cut. Fedor is a big draw , he's like the Mike Tyson of MMA. Dana White is stupid for doing this.
Dana should be a proper businessman and kiss Fedor's ass to bring him into the UFC or something , and make a pile of money.
White just looks like a bitter hater towards FEdor. If Fedor was a part of the UFC he'd say nothing but good things about him. This is just a personal grudge, nothing more.
