In my opinion yes, Mayweather (i'm not his fan:dead) has been a great boxer and lord knows how many people wants to see him lose a fight but you have to recognize skills and boxing abilities in a boxer like him (hell! even dancing) and he has fought in more weight divisions than sweet pea, who don't get me wrong, was great boxer too.
You are so wrong it is LAUGHABLE. This isn't even debatable unless you haven't a clue about Whitaker. Let's compare resumes. Whitaker -Chavez(FAR better than any Mayweather win) -Nelson(as good as any Mayweather win) -McGirt twice(in reality, given the state of opponents at the time, arguably better than any Mayweather win) -De La Hoya(just as arguably as Floyd's win over Castillo, but if you don't want to count this I understand) -Vasquez(a better 154 pounder at the time than DLH was when FLoyd beat him, and Whitaker did it more convincingly) -Jose Luis Ramirez(a better win than Castillo) Mayweather -Ricky Hatton(below McGirt, Chavez, Nelson, De La Hoya if you're counting it, which I am, and arguably the other two as well, but not quite. -De La Hoya(nowhere near Pea's performance against DLH, and it is obvious why, and nowhere near his performance against Chavez) -Castillo twice(Pea's two performances over McGirt outweigh these wins easily, considering McGirt's P4P ranking at the time) -Corrales(aside from perhaps Hatton, Floyd's only top 10 ranked P4P opponent, compared to 4 for Pea) -Genaro Hernandez(not truly on par with any of the wins above other than Ramirez) I'm sorry, but in terms of accomplishments, it's even further apart than it is head to head, where it is semi close.
That's because you have no clue about boxing outside of Pac. I just compared his resume to PBF's. Not even close.
Sweat Pea was an outstanding boxer, but his problem was he had no power. What was his KO % again??? 2%? Meanwhile, Mayweather, still no George Foreman when it comes to power, does have enough to get a ko, or TKO by way of ref. If the two fought in their primes, Mayweather by boring decision. http://www.fromthecage.com/boxing-news.html
Most of Floyd's KO's came at 130. Whitaker fought from 135 to 154 exclusively. He had 17 KO's in 45 fights as was, but when he put his body into his punches, he showed power, as was proven by multiple one punch KO's. Either way, what does that have to do with greatness? Whitaker had plenty of KO's, so your point about Mayweather having enoigh to get a TKO is pointless in fact, seeing as Whitaker did as well. And stop plugging your gay site.
Sorry , sweetpea, you are wrong here . This is not a disrespect to Whitaker, but i have to say this. BTW , you are more knowledgable than to post such a silly post. Whitaker - An undefeated but WELTERWEIGHT Chavez A lightweight Nelson DeLaHoya - this thread is about if Mayweather has surpassed Whitaker, so i dont believe losses should count in such a thread. Your other points are good, and i said i believe that some of the names on Whitakers record are better than what they look now , i like his record, but Mayweather's is better imo. Mayweather - The same applies for Mayweather, some of the guys he beat like Manfredy and Ndou, you gotta remember that these guys were good AT THE TIME. Castillo- he won both of these , the fact you are saying McGirt is better is madness. Castillo's been around for a long time and was peaking it at the time they fought. Corrales - this win speaks for itself Hernandez- a top win, anything else you say is madness . Chavez and Carlos Hernandez - I see you didnt mention these. Judah - was already establishef at Welter , and was from a bigger weight class than Floyd originally , a top class win. Ndou and Manfredy are good wins at a level below the above. Gatti had a alphabet title at the time Baldomir had just beaten Judah DeLaHoya just come off a decent win when Floyd beat him. I never said anything about Floyd being miles ahead, but he does it imo. You are trying to make out like some of Whitaker's wins are better than Floyd's , but the truth is, they are similar.
its close one or two big wins and PBF surpasses whitaker and a few others in the process.....head to head its mayweather win
