Right thing to do IMHO. He's a 154-160lber, not a super middleweight.

Of course he'll pursue Chavez!! He'd be dumb not too! It's a huge money fight and a highly winnable fight for him IMHO,

I hope Barker does him, I get the feeling he's gonna underestimate Darren! I'm giving him a chance! I didn't at first but after watching him again and again I really believe that Darrens approach to the fight will give him massive problems! His movement will offset him and I see Martinez having problems catching him clean! Styles make fights and I see a problem here for Martinez in all honesty!

    Good luck Darren!!

Martinez should be nowhere near 168.

Agree with everyone else here: He's sound at 160, and would be undersized at super middle (and I think he would see his pop less significant there as well)

He should be looking to beat Pirog, Sturm and Chavez before he bows out. Maybe he'll get a super fight with 'Canelo' down the line as it looks unlikely Floyd or Pac will step up to face him.

There seems to be no reason he can't clear his division out (and the best guys from 154) before he finishes up. I don't quite by into the hype on him, but he's a solid fighter and a tough competitor, and definitely appears the best man between 11 and 11 1/2 stone.

He looks like the best fighter on the planet bar none IMO in his last two fights, obviously he has to be tested a lot more though, I just think he has hit some sort of sick peek and has turned into an incredible fighter. He is more than capable of doing the business at 168.

 :lol:You are of course taking the ****....his last two fights have been against fighters who haven't ever fought beyond 154 and that for the 160 crown....the man is likely to copp for it at 160 when he fights someone properly at the weight and would be absolutely slaughtered at 168.....Can you imagine Martinez against someone like Ward or Froch, it would be legalized murder

You don't like Martinez, eh Ice?;)

I know he does get tend to get over rated these days but he's the best guy at 160 at the moment and, having been a career 154lber, not being able to beat the best at 168 does't make him a bad fighter.

He's a great fighter, but at 160 we just don't know what he is because despite being a titlist at the weight he hasn'nt bothered fighting anyone at it. I like my champions to prove that they are the best at what they do and Martinez hasn't done that above 154 (where he should be considered the man)

Talk of him at 168 is just plain ****ing daft...can you imagine???

It would be interesting to see what he does against Barker......or Macklin and Sturm...he's too small to hurt them....look at his record in detail and its abit smoke and mirrors

I've followed him since the Willaims/ Dodson fights. Theres not much smoke and mirrors involved, he's got to where he is today the hard way.

Without doubt he is a great LMW but he hasn't done anything up to this point to prove that his middleweigh antics match them

    (Warning: Leading question!!)
