At the point that the fight was stopped, it was Lewis that was hammering Vitali!

Would have KOed him soon enough.

This **** is getting embarrassing now. I really like vitali ,but you guys are seriously ruining his credibility by keep going on about this. Lennox made that cut and stopped vitali. He decided to retire with all his faculties intact, and did the right thing.

I was there ring side and it was funny how all cocky and drunk brits somehow became very quiet after the second round. Lots of people who came to cheer for LL end up as Vitaly's fans after the bout.

Lewis had faced far greater adversity and overcame far greater obstacles than what Vitali could ever offer, afterall he had come back from 2 confidence destroying stoppages only to rematch those guys and return the favour. Lewis was at his most dangerous when he had something to prove, Vitali would have been no exception to that rule (although i say rule, which is a bit false considering Vitali did lose) and would have been on the wrong end of a nasty, bloody beatdown. So il say it again Vitsli couldnt even deal with a sluggish, overweight, past prime Lewis so how an earth does he deal with a younger, lighter. more elusive, prime Lewis... he doesnt.

    Lewis was 37.

Vitali is 40 and still barely losing a round. Lewis looked as good as Vitali ALLOWED him to look, so......Stop with the age bull****. Its getting old, unlike Lewis who was NOT old for a heavyweight.

    Overage?.........shotdown.
And how overweight was he, 5 pounds, 8 pounds? That is not as detrimental to a 250 pound fighter as you try to make it out to be.

    Overweight?......shotdown as well........
Past his prime? Then why did he say how good he felt and was ready to fight on for a few more years, right after steemrolling Tyson? You know, the fight Lewis had before the Vitali fight?

    Past his prime?............again, shotdown
Excuses.......keep em comin, and we'll keep shooting them down. :good

Granted, Lewis won a legit victory, but fact is he felt, himself, that a rematch would be questionable, at best, and he decided to avoid a megapayday, and put on a VERY in demand rematch.....and in the process, leave NO doubt as to who was the better man when he retired........

He may or may not have won a rematch, but I think most agree that Lewis didn't see it as worth the risk, given how hard a time he had with Vitali.

    Period.

Erik Morales was 31 when he lost to David Diaz.
Chris Eubank was 31 when he lost to Calzaghe.
Tarver was 36 when he KO'd Roy Jones Jr.
Hopkins was 46 when he beat Pascal.

What do these fighters have in common... all decent fighters yes but they all peaked at different points and ages in their respective careers, comparing Vitali's success at 40yrs old compared to what Lennox could achieve at 37yrs old is like comparing apples and oranges. When considering factors such as era, compitition faced, interest in the sport your comment on not old for heavyweight makes absolutely no sense , every single fighter is different and you are extremely foolish and silly to generalise most heavyweights prime age as late 30's, simply not true .

Lennox was overweight, it was his heaviest weight to date and it was easy to tell that he had not shed the excess weight and replaced it with muscle. He looked sluggish and slow in the ring but still found an avenue to victory like all good champions do.

Of course he was past his prime, he was winding down his career and looking for one last payday with either Tyson or Roy Jones Jr, the fight with Vitali was evidence that he still had what it takes to be top dog but that he was also slowing down and not as sharp as he once was, out of interest when do you consider Lennox to be in his prime?

Not sure i understand your comment on who was the better man in that fight, sure Vitali was ahead on the cards after his fantastic start but Lewis had managed to get a foothold in that match and was ripping Vitali with some brutal shots, you cannot expect to take massive shots from a guy of Lennox's stature and power without some kind of consequence, if Vitali was good enough he would have won that match, he wasnt and couldnt get out of the way of Lennox's jab, left hook and eventually the uppercut.

When a fighter realises he isnt quite what he used to be i completely understand they're decision to retire, why become a name on lesser fighters resume knowing that in yout heyday you would have taken said fighter to school, the real reason that Klitschko fans are angry is that Lewis was against becoming a name on Vitali's record and walked away from the sport with his brain intact, its ironic that they wouldnt moan about this fight if Vitali's resume had anywhere near the depth that Lewis's had, all the hate for Lennox is driven by Jealousy.

    Awesome post.

  11. How can you retire someone when you lose to them by getting TKO'd?
These Klitschko fans are so dumb.

Lennox Lewis beat every man he faced in the pro ring, including Vitali Kilitschko TKO 6 when Lennox was farely 80% fit. Why bother facing Vit again he'd already kicked his ass once. Notice you didnt see Wlad demanding a fight with Lewis for kicking his brudder's ass:nono
Lennox had nothing left to prove. He now enjoys his retirement a very rich guy with a great wife & family. Thanks for everything Lennox The Lion Lewis

Lennox Lewis - Top 3 ATG, No 1 on many people's lists, beat everyone he faced including 2 other ATGs.

Vitali Klitschko - Alpahabet titleist that couldn't dominate a weak era and had to drag glass-chinned LHWs 10 rounds.

That's how history will remember them, even if a few ******ed eastern Euro types don't.
