max baer used to have a hand that size?i dont think so...if he had a hand that size his fist measurment has to be 15 like liston!and he had only 11 inches fist size...that picture can t be true! probbably fake ass.
Beleive it or not that is to-scale then byb the looks of it - just got my ruler out and measured it on the screen - It is about 11 1/4" to be exact - so yeah it looks to be actual size - Baer was a beast tho - seen him come in the ring as a guest at the Liston Patterson match and he was much bigger even than Liston - pretty scary really
ok,but his fist measurement is totaly wrong. hes probably 15 or even 16 inches fist size...i dont understand about hands size,i actually considered my habds big,and i have 8.75"in lenght,a fist size of 13.5"... if my hands is way smaller than baer,he obviously had much more than 13.5"... crazy stuff brouw. and lennox lewis have the same history, gigantic hands and his fist is only 12" **** that dirty tale of tape ... i sorry my bad english,i from bulgaria! sorry too for that boring analizes. and one more quest, how is measure the fist of boxers?closed fist around the knucles?or,hand lenght?
gotta love your post here - in response to your last question they measure it from the point where your palm meets your wrist (there's usually a line there) up to the tip of the finger - and further I actually measured that hand print literally by holding a ruler up to it on the screen and it did measure in the region of 11 and a quarter inches - I know it seems amazing when you look at it but trust me I met Muhammad Ali some years back and his hands were like bears paws - I was genuinely shocked (and worried that he was going to crush my hand) when he shook my hand - they were huge!! A guy I chatted to at the pub said something similar about when he met Henry Cooper - he said "he had hands like shovels - the biggest hands I've ever seen!"
My bad Red - it was the Liston-Bethea match in '58 - the Sonny Liston episode of the 'Boxers' DVD box set has the extended footage and before the ring introductions ringside guests Max Baer and Buddy Baer (as well as Joe Louis and Tony Zale) come into the ring to great applause and go across to shake hands with Liston and Bethea -even with his padded robe Liston is still nowhere near the width of Max Baer - makes you realise what a beast Max Baer was
