I actually agree with you. Style wise Joe is a nightmare for most styles b/c he adapts and is a true boxer, but on top of that he is very offensive minded.

At this level being TOO OFFENSIVE isn't always the best thing. At this level guys are able to pin point openings and counter effectively. The more the throw the more you leave openings and if you don't move or have little lateral movment you are a stationary target and easy to hit. Hop is not easy to hit even at this age but Joe is very quick and very skilled. his youth and pressure will be a bit too much for Hop to overcome in my opinion. But I do agree with Joe winning this in a competitive fight.

 

Hoppy Poppy doesn't punch enough to win this one.

 

I have the same feeling..BHOPS defense..counter punching....dirty tactics..he will make Calzaghe look very aerage and beat his ass 1-12.

No tot mention Hops is bigger and taller with the longer reach and last weighed 182 against Tarver.

People saying that Hopkins wins easily are clearly delusional. Let's take the two fights with Jermain Taylor. You can argue about the points margins until the cows come home but Taylor was more than a match for Bernard. Taylor has less speed than Joe, a slower brain, slower hand speed, poorer ring smarts, a worse chin... in fact, I can't think of a single advantage (apart from youth) that Jermain Taylor would have against Calzaghe head to head. Most sane people would agree with the above.

Therefore, given that Taylor gave Hopkins all that he could debatebly handle, how the **** is Hopkins going to beat Joe "easily"? Pure insanity.

Yes, styles make fights. But Joe does EVERYTHING better than a guy who has recently beat Hopkins.

I think this fight will be fairly competetive and don't think one fighter will dominate the whole fight either way, for the record.

 

Cannot see JC losing this as he will not get psyched out by BHop the way Winky did. But it could be a prob style wise for Joe and I see BHops best chance is taking the early rds by clever boxing and frustrating JC then putting on a late show for the judges.. if Joe doesnt stop him late in the fight.

Maybe you're right, I can't say you're not - but having watched Taylor and Calzaghes careers up to now I can't say you are either. I certainly disagree that Calzaghe has faster handspeed though. He doesn't, not even in his wildest dreams.

Hopkins is the biggest joke of a champion I've seen in a long long time. If you want proof, his only good fight in the last 10 years was against Trinidad. Every other fight, he fights 5 rounds max, throwing 10 punches per round, and clinching 15-20 times per round, then bitching when he loses.

I cannot wait until he retires after Calzaghe owns his ass just like Lacy.
