He doesnt have the same pop on his punches anymore. It seemed last night that he punched himself out after 4 or 5 rounds, then he was conservative with his punches the last 6 rounds, letting the other guy get off too much.

Marshall and I trained him from his first fight as an amateur all the way to Margarito 1, although I do have to say that in camp for Margarito ! is where he allowed his GF to take over his life. His preparation for that fight was at best 25% of what it was for previous fights because he just refused to listen, and he ignored the majority of his training.

First off, I think it's awesome that you can say that you trained a professional boxer and are on here sharing your experiences.

I don't know if someone has asked you yet, and I hope you don't mind me asking the following question. In the first Margarito fight, did you or someone from your camp watch Margarito wrap his hands? Did Cintron ever say that Margarito had devastating power or anything to that effect? If you can't talk about it I understand, but I'm interested in your opinion on that issue.

I dont mind at all. We watched the hands get wrapped. There was nothing out of the ordinary about the wraps. Kermits reply about Margaritos power was that he didnt hurt him at all, and wasn't a puncher at all. I have NEVER seen Kermit legitimately hurt. He went down out of panic, and being overwhelmed mentally. His was severely under prepared for that fight, and he has nobody but himself to blame for that.

    PS
Thanks for the compliment as well. It was quite an experience. About 3 months ago a true prodigy walked into our gym. 14 yrs old. 5'9 112lbs. Left handed. legit one punch ko power in both hands. Blazing hand speed. Already 3-0 3 stoppages as an amateur, and so far true grit to match. He is constantly sparring older, bigger, more experienced guys because guys his age, size, and experience level are no match for him. Truly freakish power.

Wow...great stuff. :good Physically he seemed to be in great shape, but I guess mentally he was off or Margarito's toughness and experience made him breakdown mentally.

So what did you think about Cintron vs Margarito II? Would you care to give your opinion on the questions that have been made concerning Margarito and his handwrapping scandal? Do you believe he could have done it his entire career? Again, if you can't talk about it for legal reasons, I understand. I am just hoping to get a professional trainer's opinion and from someone who has been in the game. I also understand that it would only be your opinion. :thumbsup

So where is this kid from? Are you his trainer? Will he be turning pro or do you see him trying to get to the Olympics?

I've said it a couple of times and not to sound like a broken record, but I think Cintron is cutting too much weight. He looked good against Angulo, fought well for a couple of rounds against Willaims, hell he looked better against MArtinez than he has in his last two fights and in all of those fights, he came in within a half a pound of 154 and walked into the ring against Angulo at 170 pounds. Since then hes come in lighter and lighter and looked worse and worse.

Yes I am training him... along with Marshall. To early to make predictions like that, but he has more natural ability then I have ever seen.

All I can say is that his wraps were fine when I saw them. Paul Williams held up just fine, and so did other fighters.

Ronnie Shields is what happened to his power. Kermit is NOT Juan Diaz. He is not a volume puncher. Kermit is a boxer puncher with the emphasis on PUNCHER. When Kermit was with Marshall and I we concentrated on the basics of boxing. See the Teddy Reid fight. Listen to the commentary in that fight. "Kermit keeps his hands up very well for a puncher." "JAB JAB JAB from Cintron."
Also at that time I worked very hard to maximize Kermits strength and size at 147. He was incredibly strong at that point in his career, and HUGE.
