That seems to be the case. If Egan isnt the best in his own natural weight division then why should he get a chance to take someone elses spot on the mouth of the World Championships, it isnt fair on the others.

And, with his fight with McCarthy I read in the Irish Daily Star that McCarthy complained at the delay when he KD Egan, why did the referee do this? Did anyone else see this - what did you think? It all sounds bad to me.

Yeah heard that he counted egan wipped his gloves asked him to step forward which egan did, looked a bit shaky but not falling over or anything .Then the ref walked across the ring and inspected Mc Carthys gloves for no apparent reason, then went back to the centre of the ring and called both boxers to box probably from the end of the count to resuming boxing 15 to 20 seconds.A good mate of mine was there and he said it looked very dodgy.

Yeah that was a good read, particularly the quotes, and this one below explains the whole thing really well. Hopefully, this mess is sorted out asap. What sticks in my throat is it says in this article that the IABA cant make a decision yet on who will be in the team until a key board member returns from holiday! Seriously, GTFO!

Why can't the trainer pick the team anyway? Does McCracken not pick team GB or do they have some stuffy board rule who goes for GB. Madness!

Theres a small bit of a push on FB to get a rematch for John Waldron,it seems mainly family orientated but John is now 37 and has been stopped in his last three fights its time for him to hang them up and relax and if he or his family cant see that then maybe the BUI should do something. He seems a nice fella no point him getting hurt in a game where it looks he has gone as far as he can.

Would love to see that jab glas

It looks like Haughian against Junior Witter in an eliminator for British welter belt on Fury undercard 17th September.
Also Ginley v Taggert and Thompson v Greene, this undercard is taking shape.

yea i was at the fight, dont know whether egan was in too much trouble but after the count ref went over to tommy and started picking a thread out of velcro of glove that would never of caused any trouble, then when mcarthy complained he stood infront of him for another few seconds telling him to be quiet it was the most blantant time wasting i ever seen.:verysad

What did you reckon of the middleweights Luke, do you have the beating of O'Reilly or Quigley, or Cummings? I thought Quigley boxed well yesterday and imposed himself in rds 1 & 3 especially, by the end he could pick big shots. He's probably getting better all the time and could do Darren O'Neill next year, class as he is.

Spencer Fearon's Hard Knocks Promotions have secured a six fight deal with Premier Sports. Premier Sports also showed the Mares fight earlier this morning too. It is a shame that Setanta Ireland didnt match the boxing output of Premier Sports.

Here is the article out of The Examiner regarding Egan - McCarthy

    http://www.examiner.ie/sport/other-sport/controversy-as-egan-overcomes-mccarthy-164168.html

Here is the team I hope will get picked for the worlds -

49 - Barnes (Euro and Commonwealth champion 10)
    52 - Conlon (GeeBees winner 11)
    56 - Nevin (World Bronze medalist 09)
    60 - D O Joyce (GeeBees winner 11)
    64 - Moylette (European champion 11)
    69 - McLoughlin (World Quarter finalist 09)
    75 - O'Neill (Euro Silver medalist 10)
    81 - Ward (European champion 11)
    91 - Egan (Olympic silver medalist 08 )
    91+ - Sheahan (E.U Champ 09)

    Not bad is it ???

Would this be Ireland's strongest team ever ?? It has to be up there !

Would anyone else pick a different side ??
