Hey, I'm far from an expert. I watch lots of boxing, read on here, and box lots with friends. I fought against a much bigger guy yesterday, and i need to learn to block haha. Another thread though. I keep dodging, but he will clip me to the back of my neck and sometimes connect behind my ear. Is that illegal? I don't think hes swinging from there, its just how i try to dodge it. Also, how can i prevent this? Any help is much appreciated, I'm a humble beginner.
Learn to box at a boxing gym. This is the best advice. Don't spar friends, you won't learn anything this way. You will never learn by anyone TELLING you what you are doing wrong on a forum. Good luck. :good
hitting to the back of th head or back of the neck would be a ellligal strike, even if your turninng tno it. But in competition, if your turning away no purpose to force a ellegal hit, then you mighhtbe the one that could get disqualified. basically if your gettiing hit in the ear or side of the kneck, then your fiighting a hooker andneed tto on block and counters against hookers. Iif your fighting a head hunter, then keep your hands up high. Some standard block and counters woulld be to duck undeer the hook, come up and hit your 1,2 or use a backfist block and counter with a hook to the body
You're turning away from the punches and/or leaning over to your side too much. And boxing with your friends is pretty dumb, but what the hell, I've done it. I'll tell you that if you have any aspirations for competitive boxing then you should cut that **** out immediately. If you're just a bunch of weirdos that do it for fun then by all means, have at it...but we need the videos.
