    Good example.

Witherspoon clearly had a solid chin, as he showed in his war against Mercer in '96.

I was watching that fight on TV and I remember that Quarry was not badly hurt, but had a brain freeze following the referee's count and got up at 10 instead of 8. He was winning the fight no problem.

Actually I just rewatched the first few rounds on youtube and Chuvalo was doing OK and landing some nice shots. In my memory Quarry was winning easily. Now I have to go back and try to find the rest of the fight on youtube and reconsider.

I agree GP..even in his prime..his first reign as bantamweight champ it was he who suffered the only kds in his trilogy with Chucho Castillo..in his two bouts with Rafael Herrera he was ko'ed and knocked down in bouts I and II respectively..he was down vs Valitin Galleano in a bout he won by tko, vs Art Hafey in both bouts with Hafey..then there's Arguello, Kotey and Pedroza, Lopez to mention a few others..I mean Olivares was a great fighter for sure, but he went down a lot as well. That has to be a case of a less than dependable chin.

  5. And Joe Louis didnt have a good chin. People who have good chins dont get buckled and almost knocked out by a fighter 30 pounds lighter than him and was known for being a light puncher like Billy Conn was.

Although i wouldnt be as brusk as this, i agree with you that Louis was highly susceptible to right hands

People who have bad chins, more likley than not get knocked out without taking a careers worth of punishment, if they fight 35 ranked contenders and 8 lineal champions.

Howard Eastman...fighters like william joppy, bernard hopkins, and arthur abraham failed to stop him yet edison miranda bombed him out in 7 rounds

Thomas Tate - Punchers like Tyrone Trice, Merqui Sosa, and Julian Jackson couldn't stop him yet Roy Jones separated his senses in only 2 rounds..the only time in his career he would be stopped

i was told by a boxing reporter that was at the fight that you could see quarry fading after each round.he gave chuvalo all he had and big george was still there in front of him,i guess he ran out of options.

Starling-Molinares, despite the controversy, is almost incomprehensible to me.
