I think he should let the Khan thing go myself, he should deal with prescott, then try the matthysse maidana winner or whatever comes next. Just let khan be, I think he's trying to pull a prescott and goad khan in with words, but it wont work. You do have to give mccloskey credit for looking for the big fights though, he's no shrinking violet and thats what i like about him.

Im not being smart but McCloskey is only a ****. The Khan **** is wearing very ****in thin at this stage. I wouldnt mind it too much if he was winning the fight or getting stuck in but he was no wear near doing any of them. He just made things awkward. ****in clown I hope Prescott sparks to be honest.

jaysus tightlips you're not living up to your name there!

He's doing himself no favours with this Khan stuff thats for sure. He was 6 rounds behind with 6 rounds left (obviously!) and had shown no signs of being capable of winning every round that was left which was required. It shouldn't have been stopped that much we all now but it's like he assumes he was going to chin Khan a couple of rounds later. He barely landed a dig so there was no evidence for that whatsoever.

He needs to just get on with it now and stop mentioning it. He can actually win a world title if he just refocuses his aim.

So if Brian Peters says it then it's true? Come on man, do some thinking of your own. The most meagre bit of research will debunk the myth of the 'winning streak' record.

I was talking to a man yesterday who was at the box-offs both friday and saturday. He had a few interesting points to make. The thing which stood out the most was his take on the sheahan-reilly final at 69kg. I saw a few ppl mention on this thread that o'reilly was hard done by. Well this same man agreed. He said the judges had sheahan up 5-2 after the first round and that reilly himself should have been the one who was 5-2 up. That's a 6 point turnover; Sheahan won the fight by 4 points in the end

Did anyone see the exculsive in this mornings Star on the back page aswell. About John Joe Nevin basically it is if he is not picked for the Worlds then he is never boxing for Ireland again and will go professional.
Also 1 more small bit in the news section. Michael O Reilly has brought a High Court challenge against a decision to drop him from the Irish youths team. The injunction he got will prevent the IABA from deselecting him from the team due to take part in the European Youth Championships later this month. I think this is the wrong step to take for the lad.

Shame it has to go this way, we've never had it so good and internal disputes could mess up the careers of so many of our promising fighters as well as ruin the togetherness within the camps for the upcoming competitions.

I know, its an awful shame cos he could have definitely won the europeans! Ya by the sounds of it there's a good few corrupt ****s behind the scenes. Seems to be the way in all sports; old fellas with old fashioned principles somehow still rule the roost!

Will you ever go back boxing? Having been the same standard as DOJ, etc. (and a small bit younger too) you must be tempted?

Wasn't there rumours a few months back that michael mcdonagh was going to take a case against the iaba for having to box-off for the euro seniors?:think and that came to nothing. This could be the same. Time will tell i suppose.

It's strange how mcdonagh and his club seem to have accepted that he's not going to the worlds. I know ppl on this thread think he's a bit young and that he hasn't done very well on the international front. But he still beat donovan and joyce twice each! Does it seem as though his club have just told him to accept that he won't win against the iaba??

To be honest I don't know much about the internal politics of the IABA, not too interested in becoming better educated either, but they must be some shower of c*nts or complete degenerates if this many boxers are coming out and having a go at them.
