Fury's September 17 card confirmed- he also calls Roggie a bully http://www.irish-boxing.com/2011/08/tyson-confirms-belfast-sept-17-fight-night/ Frampton Thrilled to be fighting in Belfast http://www.irish-boxing.com/2011/08/frampton-thrilled-to-fight-on-belfasts-biggest-boxing-night/
About the Am world team. The coaches will pick the team in the end. So I expect there to be some great sparring going on in the team training between the fighters still fighting for the last place. Great training for the person who gets picked and it could well lead to the winner doing great in the Worlds. Is it only the winner that goes to the Olympics from the World championships or do the runners up also get to the finals? Any way this team must have a great chance of sending over the biggest ever team for boxing in a long long time for the Olympics time for the lads that get a shot at the Worlds to book there spot in London.
Top 10 in all weights except heavy and super-heavy. They're top six. In both cases, the odd ones out - or two left over, if you will, get Olympic qualification in the event that they're beaten by the eventual gold or silver medallist. The extra sparring isn't necessary, they're going to a training camp with Italy, Azerbaijan, and Ukraine - three of the strongest nations in the world, def. Europe. Although any extra international standard training camp will help those who don't go (McCullagh, Quigley, McLaughlin and Hickey as I would guess), they'll just be firing up for a tournament they'll play no part in. Buuuuut... In the event of injury at the training camp, we'll have lads ready to step in at the highest level. Not impossible, I remember Roy Sheahan particularly doing terrible damage to his hand in the 2008 Olympic qualifier in Pescara, eventually ruling him out of Beijing.
Good Mayo report by Johnny in Boxing News. Is that your first entiry into the oldest boxing publication? The only thing I would mention is that the Caldwell myth is repeated again in it.
The lad has a right to stand up for himself if he was unfairly treated but you would have to ask will he have a future with the IABA after this?? All things considered its a shame. The iaba seem to be like a company that wanted major sucess but werent ready for it when it came along.
ah i was level below davey oliver but probably as good as the rest !ah im back doing a bit of training bud im not even that heavy but the hungers not back and looking at all the 60 kg guys they are after improving more again since i was around! but id never say never ah yeah i dunno the iaba just have to do things arse-ways if a set of written rules were made out at the start of every-year there wud be no complaints! simple as that
lads where can we complain about the iaba about there treatment of the boxers etc like theres a lot of us here can we start a campaign its pissing me off that we have a legitimate chance of qualifing a boxer and having a chance in nearly everyweight class and they seem to be doing noting but causing confusion with them
So, Haughian vs Witter on the Fury undercard? Witter is shot and Haughian just isn't very good. Thoughts?
yeah first time in the mag- think i had stuff online years ago- didnt see it yet... and re the myth- i am sorry- never again- but surely im not the only hack to run with it
Hickey open to having a box off with Moylette http://www.irish-boxing.com/2011/08/hickey-willing-to-fight-moylette-for-place-on-baku-plane/
