  1. He’s not a Marquez who would draw the trilogy though.

    McCall type.

Glass that and he ain’t no one.

  2. “Valero was the greatest puncher I miss him”.

Tua was a very very promising young fighter pre Ibeabuchi... had a great trainer (Duva) and was very technically sound with an amazing punch and good stamina. If you watch his early career he looked certain to win a world title. But the weight gain and inactivity ruined him, as well as the split from Duva because of financial disputes.

The Tua that beat Maskaev and Ruiz would have eventually won a world title. Lou Duva was forming him in to a machine but apprently he was quite lazy and didnt listen to what Duva was trying to teach him. Tua also hated that another fighter in his stable, namely Golota, got better fights than he did.

No, I'm not kidding, far from it. During the late 1990s he was compared with Mike Tyson. Ring Magazine had an article called: "To Hell with Mike Tyson, David Tua is the man who could beat Lennox Lewis". He graced the front cover of the magazine. Many saw him as a future champion. Hell, do a search on these forums, people were wanting a Klitschko to fight him up until last weekend.

Just out of interest who is earning title shots in the heavyweight division these days?
Did Sosnowski? Briggs? Solis? Barrett? Chambers? Haye???
Seriously go look at the guys who have had shots in the last couple of years, and what they did to get there. It's no longer about who deserves a shot, but about who offers a sell-able fight that the brothers can win.
Not saying none of these guys were the best on offer at the time, merely that in the classical sense of fighting for the right to challenge all of them come up short.

effort against lewis done me in on tua for ever , 4 or 5 punches a round for round after round . fella did'nt have a go against a opponent who fought scared all night . **** tua would rather support a 4 round prelim battling scrapper who has a red hot go every dig.

What's that got to do with Tua coming in looking like he trained for a week for his last fight?

Tua looked absolutely pathetic for his last fight. Basically on a maccas diet then did a weeks training. If he showed up in decent shape and won he would be in line for a shot.

He'll never get anywhere near so much as an intercontinental title as it is now. :-(

What a waste. Anyone who backed him the last few years should be furious with him.
