Arum is trying to sabotage Floyd-Ortiz

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Air Klitschko, Aug 19, 2011.

  1. September 17

At Las Vegas (HBO PPV): Victor Ortiz vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr., 12 rounds, for Ortiz's WBC welterweight title; Erik Morales vs. Lucas Matthysse, 12 rounds, for vacant WBC junior welterweight title; Jessie Vargas vs. Josesito Lopez, 10 rounds, junior welterweights

At Los Angeles (HBO PPV): Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Alfonso Gomez, 12 rounds, for Alvarez's WBC junior middleweight title

At Parker, Ariz. (Fox Deportes/FSN): Mercito Gesta vs. TBA, 10 rounds, lightweights; Jose Benavidez Jr. vs. TBA, 6 rounds, junior welterweights; Andy Ruiz vs. TBA, 6 rounds, heavyweights

At Culiacan, Mexico: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Ronald Hearns, 12 rounds, for Chavez's WBC middleweight title

Trying to do anything possible to draw interest away from Floyd-Ortiz in the hopes that people tune in to his cards instead and the HBO PPV numbers aren't as good for that fight.

I think what this will prove is that Mexicans see Saul as the next great Mexican hope not Cesar's son. It's going to be a cold day in hell for bob, Cesar, and Cesar's son.

don't get too excited. No one wants anything to do with JCC Jr's fight in Mexico. Arum and Chavez' Mexican promoter both advised against it and Ariza/Roach will barely be working with him. I'm gonna laugh if Ronald Hearns knocks him out.

Ronald should just run and jab. Chavez will probably be overweight or he might even drain himself to the point where he gets tired late and Hearns takes him out :rofl

I heard Arum actually has nothing to do with this JCCJr fight. It's all his Mexican handlers doing it

Yeah, I heard Arum didn't want it. He's an astute businessman. He wouldn't purposely put on a show on the same day as Floyd's fight which is gauranteed to do well and to be the main focus of fight fans for that weekend, thus taking away from his likely profits.
